Breeze Lodge
You know what struck me first about Breeze Lodge?
You know what struck me first about Breeze Lodge? The name actually makes sense – there’s this lovely cross-breeze that flows through the lobby, probably because they’re positioned just right on Main Street to catch the Brisbane River winds. I mean, you don’t always expect hotel names to be literal, but here we are.
The thing about Kangaroo Point is that it’s one of those Brisbane spots that feels like a secret even though it’s right there across from the city. You’re literally looking at the CBD skyline from your window (well, if you get a river-facing room), but you’re also in this surprisingly quiet residential pocket. I stayed here during a particularly muggy February, and honestly, the location saved me – you can walk down to the river for that evening breeze, or if you’re feeling ambitious, the Story Bridge climb departure point is basically around the corner. The hotel staff actually mentioned that a lot of their guests do the bridge climb at sunset, which… smart timing, because the heat during the day can be brutal.
What I really appreciated was how the place doesn’t try too hard. It’s got that 4.5-star polish without feeling stuffy – the lobby has these comfortable chairs where you can actually work on your laptop without your back screaming, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes like some places I could mention. The rooms are honestly better than I expected for the price point. Mine had this little kitchenette that was surprisingly well-equipped – not just the usual mini-fridge and kettle situation, but an actual cooktop. Perfect for those mornings when you grab fresh stuff from the Gabba markets (it’s a bit of a walk, but totally worth it on Saturday mornings). The bed was firm in that good way, and here’s a detail that matters: proper blackout curtains. You wouldn’t think this would be a big deal until you’re trying to sleep in at 6 AM and Brisbane’s sunshine is aggressively cheerful.
Parking was straightforward – they’ve got their own spots, which in this area is actually a relief because street parking around Kangaroo Point can be a bit of a hunt, especially when there’s something happening at the Gabba. The front desk folks were genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions. When I asked about the best way to get to South Bank without dealing with city traffic, they suggested the CityCat from nearby – and honestly, that little ferry ride became one of my favorite parts of the stay.
I’ll be straight with you though: if you’re looking for a resort-style pool situation or fancy restaurant downstairs, this isn’t that place. But if you want a solid base that’s actually connected to how Brisbane really works – close enough to walk to good coffee (try Campos on Logan Road), easy access to the river paths for morning runs, and a genuine neighborhood feel while still being ridiculously close to everything – then Breeze Lodge gets it right. The 7.9 rating feels about right; it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s going to take care of you properly.

What Our Guests Say
Super friendly helpful staff.
Beds were super comfortable and the bunks had everything you’d need. The air con was lovely after a hot day. The bathroom was always pretty clean but could use a really deep clean. The common spaces were great. They had one event the week I was there but it was a great way to meet people. They should do more of that.
Private beds.
Good kitchen facilities and nice rooftop.
Good location but a little bit of a walk.
It was very clean
Staff were great
Location is great
It is a nice chilled place, good kitchen and has everything one needs, like laundry facilities.
The rooms and beds were really nice and comfortable. The beds have a curtain that gives them more privacy.
The location was perfect for me. The friendly staff where also working hard every day keeping the place clean. Not an easy job with 20yr something males. I would highly recommend this place and I will, the next time I'm in Brisbane.
It was clean and the staff is really amazing ! The dormitory are good. I will come again.
