I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Quest Eight Mile Plains – I mean, it’s tucked away on this quiet little court off the main drag, and honestly, Eight Mile Plains isn’t exactly what you’d call a tourist hotspot. But that’s actually what makes this place kind of perfect if you’re looking for a proper Brisbane base without the city chaos.

The thing is, Quest gets the extended stay formula right in a way that a lot of these apartment-style hotels just don’t. The rooms feel like actual apartments – full kitchen with a decent-sized fridge, separate living area where you can actually spread out, and the beds are legitimately comfortable (not those rock-hard hotel mattresses that leave you feeling like you’ve been wrestling crocodiles all night). I stayed for almost a week and never felt cramped, which is saying something. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the place too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many hotels mess that up. What really sold me though was the little details – proper coffee machine, not just those sad instant packets, and enough power outlets that you don’t have to choose between charging your phone and using the bedside lamp.

Location-wise, it’s one of those spots that seems random until you realize how clever it is. You’re literally five minutes from the M1 if you’re driving, so getting to the Gold Coast or back into Brisbane CBD is dead easy. There’s a Woolworths practically next door – and I mean next door, like a two-minute walk – plus all the usual chains along Logan Road. The industrial estate vibe might seem a bit sterile during the day, but it’s actually perfect for early morning runs (surprisingly good paths around there), and it’s quiet as anything at night. No drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM, no traffic noise, just proper sleep. The staff seem to know their regulars too, which gives it more of a neighborhood feel than your typical corporate hotel. I’d definitely come back – it’s got that sweet spot of being convenient without being hectic, comfortable without being pretentious, and the price point makes sense for what you get. Perfect if you want to explore Brisbane properly but still have a decent place to decompress at the end of the day.
