First Impressions
When I first walked into Above Brisbane King Suite with Rooftop Pool Deck, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another apartment building in Brisbane. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in understated packages. This four-star property sits right in the heart of what locals consider the absolute best part of Brisbane — and trust me, that location score of 10.0 isn’t just marketing fluff.
The Suite Experience
The room itself is actually more like a proper apartment than your typical hotel setup. I mean, you’ve got a full kitchen that’s genuinely useful (not one of those tiny hotel kitchenettes that can barely handle instant coffee), and the space feels like somewhere you’d actually want to hang out rather than just crash for the night. The king suite layout gives you room to breathe, which is something I really appreciated after spending days in cramped city hotels elsewhere.
That Rooftop Pool Deck
Here’s where things get interesting — the rooftop pool deck is honestly the star of the show. It’s not massive, but it doesn’t need to be. What matters is that you’re up there with genuine views over Brisbane, and during sunset (which happens around 6 PM most of the year), you’ll understand why couples rate this place so highly. The deck has this relaxed vibe where you can actually have a conversation without shouting over crowds or music.
Location & Getting Around
South Brisbane is one of those neighborhoods that just works — you’re close enough to the CBD that you can walk across the river in about 15 minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant noise and chaos. The free private parking on site is actually a huge deal here because, well, Brisbane parking can be a nightmare and expensive. I found myself walking to most places anyway since you’re basically surrounded by the cultural precinct, South Bank, and all those riverside paths that make Brisbane actually pleasant to explore on foot.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to blow you away with fancy amenities or over-the-top service, but that’s sort of the point. It’s the kind of place that works really well for couples who want their own space, a decent kitchen to save money on meals, and that pool deck for evening drinks without the hotel bar markup. The fact that it consistently gets high ratings from couples tells you something — it’s got that sweet spot of privacy, comfort, and location that’s hard to find in Brisbane. Plus, when you factor in the parking situation and the kitchen setup, it actually represents pretty solid value for what you’re getting in this part of the city.

What Our Guests Say
The property was well located to public transport, the Arts precinct, and South Bank Gardens as well as Fish Lane. The property was well presented and clean and had access to a small pool, however only two towels were provided which is inconvenient if you want to swim.
