Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of Brisbane hotels, and the 2B2B Retreat on Margaret Street honestly caught me off guard – in the best way possible. You know that stretch of Margaret Street that runs right through the heart of the CBD? Well, this place sits perfectly positioned where you can actually walk to Queen Street Mall in about three minutes, but you’re also close enough to the river that you get those nice breezes coming up from the Brisbane River. The building itself has this modern apartment vibe rather than your typical hotel feel, which I actually loved because it meant real space to spread out and – this matters if you’re staying more than a night or two – proper kitchen facilities that aren’t just a sad little kitchenette.
What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to create this retreat atmosphere (hence the name, I guess) right in the middle of all the city action. The rooms are genuinely spacious – I mean, you can open your suitcase without having to close the bathroom door first, which is more than I can say for most city hotels. The whole setup feels like someone’s really nice apartment that they’ve let you borrow, complete with decent coffee setup and windows that actually open properly. And honestly, being on the 15th floor meant the street noise from Margaret Street wasn’t an issue at all, though you’ll definitely hear the city humming below during peak hours. The view toward Queens Wharf is pretty spectacular too, especially now with all the development happening down there – you can watch the whole riverside transformation from your window.
Here’s what sold me on this place: it’s positioned perfectly for someone who wants to be in the thick of things but needs a proper base to retreat to. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Central Station if you need to get anywhere quickly, the Treasury Casino is right there if that’s your thing, and the botanical gardens are close enough for a morning jog along the river. But when you come back after a day of meetings or exploring, you’ve got this calm, well-designed space that doesn’t feel like you’re sleeping in a corporate box. The staff were refreshingly normal too – no over-the-top hospitality theater, just helpful people who know the area well and can point you toward the good coffee spots on Adelaide Street or tell you which nights the rooftop bars nearby get too crowded. I stayed during a particularly busy conference week in Brisbane, and while other hotels were completely packed and chaotic, this place maintained that retreat-like calm that makes you understand why it’s got such high ratings from people who actually stay there.

What Our Guests Say
Exceptional
Since there is no reviews on this, I was bit worried but it’s all good and room was new and very good. Property is new and good location to Casino. Facilities r good, swimming pool, sauna, steam sauna and gym.
What could be improved: There is no indication for the sauna. And there is no indication where to throw bin.
Pillow is too high.
Very good Nice location. Bathrooms are nice.
What could be improved: Small bedrooms. Key pick up wasn’t explained before hand and is a bit of a pain.
Exceptional
Very good Location, views, comfortable beds.
What could be improved: No wifi. Being asked to remove all rubbish ourselves and no note to say where that could be done at the property- we ended up putting it away n a bin on the street.
