The Beetson Hotel
The Beetson Hotel
You know what caught me off guard about The Beetson Hotel?
You know what caught me off guard about The Beetson Hotel? Walking into that lobby after being on busy Caxton Street all day – it’s like stepping into this calm, sophisticated bubble. I mean, Caxton’s got that energy with all the pre-game crowds heading to Suncorp Stadium and the constant hum of traffic, but once you’re inside, the noise just melts away. The place has this modern elegance that doesn’t feel stuffy or pretentious, which honestly surprised me for a five-star spot. The staff actually remembered my name after the first day (not just from looking at their computer screen, either), and check-in was smooth – no standing around waiting while they “locate your reservation.”
What really works about this place is how it sits in the middle of everything without feeling chaotic. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Roma Street Station, which is perfect if you’re catching trains to the Gold Coast or just getting around the city. The Roma Street Parkland is right there too, so you’ve got this massive green space to escape to if you need a break from the urban vibe. And honestly, being on Caxton means you’re in the thick of Brisbane’s nightlife scene – though the rooms are surprisingly quiet given all the action outside. The windows must be seriously good quality because I barely heard the Friday night crowds, even on the lower floors. The rooms themselves have this comfortable, lived-in luxury feel – not like a sterile hotel room where you’re afraid to touch anything. Big beds, decent workspace if you need to get stuff done, and the bathroom actually has proper water pressure (you’d be surprised how many fancy hotels mess that up).
What I’d tell anyone considering this place is that it’s got that sweet spot thing going on – upscale enough that you feel like you’re treating yourself, but relaxed enough that you don’t feel out of place grabbing a coffee in the lobby wearing jeans. The 8.3 rating makes sense to me because it’s not trying to be the flashiest hotel in Brisbane, but it gets the important stuff right. Location-wise, you’re walking distance to the CBD but not stuck in the middle of Queen Street mall chaos. There’s good coffee within a block (which matters more than people realize), and if you’re here during footy season, you’ll understand why being this close to Suncorp is either perfect or potentially annoying depending on your tolerance for crowds. The staff seemed to know their stuff about the area too – they pointed me toward this great Vietnamese place on Hardgrave Road that I never would’ve found otherwise. It’s the kind of place where you can tell the management actually cares about the guest experience rather than just going through the motions.

What Our Guests Say
Superb Didn't have breakfast. Location was good.
What could be improved: N/a
Superb Staff were very helpful, the room and facilities were excellent.
Very good In a great location, just really hard to find parking. Great spot if you’re visiting suncorp stadium
What could be improved: parking is a bit rough, if there’s none available with the hotel
The room and furniture is quite outdated and small and the bed smaller than expected for the money paid. On the upside, It’s location for what we needed
What could be improved: Bed was too small and room a bit outdated
Great little hotel with excellent staff and in a handy spot! The staff were great and addressed any problem or request I had quickly and without hesitation.
The room was not particularly large but it was very comfortable and clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, too, so I slept well. It was unexpected but nice change to be able to choose any item off the breakfast menu instead of having a buffet style.
What could be improved: The window looked onto a small space between buildings, so there was no view, but as I was working at the desk most of the time, that was not an issue for me. The desk chair was very wobbly when I arrived, but the staff quickly changed it for me when I asked.
Beautiful interior, no street noise when in room. Close to restaurants. Very nice, comfortable room. Close to everything.
What could be improved: Nothing!
Superb Close to everything I planned for in Brisbane. If not, train stations and lime scooters were closely available.
What could be improved: No laundry room. Had to use laundry mat roughly 1km away.
Great location. Great sound-proofing Great location, amenities and the bed was very comfortable. The staff went out of their way to help you. The food in the on-site restaurant was beautiful.
What could be improved: There was trouble with the TV in our original room so they moved us to another room. The second room was a bit smaller but it was their only option.
Superb Room was spacious and comfortable. I had a lovely balcony to watch the sunrise and sunset. Staff were excellent and so helpful when my aircon switched to cool from heat when Brisbane was in the middle of a cold snap.
What could be improved: Inadequate lighting to do hair and makeup as the bathroom was not well lit. But this is a common problem in most hotels I'm finding.
Superb Close to the footy to watch the Broncos.
What could be improved: Restaurant wasn't open on Sunday nights. Was looking forward to it as the seafood is so good.
