Swiss-Belhotel Brisbane
Swiss-Belhotel Brisbane
You know what caught me off guard about the Swiss-Belhotel Brisbane?
You know what caught me off guard about the Swiss-Belhotel Brisbane? It’s actually tucked away on Main Street in Woolloongabba – and I mean that in the best possible way. Most people think of Woolloongabba as just where the Gabba cricket ground is, but this spot gives you this interesting mix of being close to everything without dealing with the CBD chaos. The hotel itself has that solid, unpretentious feel that four-star places should have – nothing too flashy, but everything works like it should.
The location is honestly pretty clever when you think about it. You’re literally walking distance to the Gabba (which is great if you’re here for cricket or AFL), but more importantly, you can actually get around Brisbane easily from here. The bus routes along Main Street will get you into the city center in about fifteen minutes, and – this is something I only figured out on my second stay – you can walk to the South Bank Parklands if you don’t mind a bit of a stroll. It’s maybe twenty minutes on foot, and you pass through some interesting neighborhoods that most tourists never see. The check-in staff actually know the area well, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how rare that is. They’ll tell you which coffee shops open early (there’s a decent one about two blocks down) and honestly give you better directions than Google Maps sometimes.
What I appreciate about this place is that it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. The rooms are comfortable – I mean, the beds are actually good, and the air conditioning works properly, which in Brisbane summer is basically non-negotiable. The 7.2 rating makes sense because it’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in Brisbane, but it does the fundamentals right. Parking is straightforward, which anyone who’s driven in Brisbane will tell you is half the battle. The neighborhood gets a bit quiet at night, but that’s actually nice – you can sleep without sirens or party noise, but you’re not stuck in some dead suburban area either. I’ve stayed here three times now, and each time I’m reminded why it works: it’s just a solid, well-located hotel that doesn’t cost a fortune and doesn’t give you any unpleasant surprises. If you’re looking for Instagram-worthy luxury, this isn’t it. But if you want a reliable base for exploring Brisbane without the downtown hotel prices, and you appreciate being in a real neighborhood instead of a tourist bubble, then this place actually makes a lot of sense.

What Our Guests Say
The staff were very welcoming, security guard was a legend and the Hotel is luxury
Close to the Gabba, Pineapple Hotel and the German Club. The room was very comfortable and the ability to cook a meal using a microwave is a plus.
Great location. Comfortable room
Its a new facility and therefore was extremely clean and staff were amazing
I recently stayed at this hotel and, unfortunately, I have to say the experience was disappointing given the high cost. We paid $250 per night, which included a $35 daily parking fee and an additional $150 to have our cavoodle with us. However, the parking situation was problematic. There were limited parking spaces, and the entry panel was located on the passenger side of the car, far from the gate. This meant we had to get out, walk around the car, and often get wet on rainy days just to access the parking lot.
The room itself was nice but had several design flaws. For example, every time we used the shower, water spilled out onto the bathroom floor because of poor design. The kitchenette area had dishes and a sink, but no dishwashing supplies were provided. Even though there were coffee pods, there was no coffee machine to use them with. On top of that, cleaning staff didn’t wash the dishes, so we were left with dirty cups and plates to reuse throughout our stay.
Additionally, we were charged a fee to have our dog with us, but there were no dog bowls or any pet amenities provided. It was disappointing not to see basic provisions for pets, especially at this price point.
There was also an issue with privacy. The cleaning staff didn’t knock before entering the room, and there was no sign to indicate whether they were coming in or not. This felt invasive, and the lack of privacy was a real downside. Additionally, the hotel clearly isn’t finished—there’s ongoing construction, and tradies were occupying the parking spaces we were paying for, which felt frustrating.
Overall, I expected much better for the price, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless these issues are addressed.
