Story Apartments
You know what?
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Story Apartments when I first pulled up to Lambert Street – honestly, the name sounds a bit generic and three stars in Brisbane can be hit or miss. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The building itself has this clean, modern apartment-style setup that feels more like you’re staying in someone’s well-maintained city pad than a typical hotel. The lobby’s nothing fancy, but check-in was smooth and the staff seemed to genuinely care about making sure I knew my way around the area.
Location-wise, you’re right in the heart of Kangaroo Point, which I mean – if you know Brisbane at all, you’ll get why that’s pretty sweet. You’re literally a five-minute walk to the river, and those cliff walks along the Brisbane River are honestly some of the best free entertainment in the city. The Story Bridge is right there (hence the name, I’m guessing), and you can walk across it or just admire it from the apartments. What really sold me though was how easy it was to get around – the CityCat terminal is super close, so you can hop over to South Bank or the CBD without dealing with traffic or parking drama. Speaking of parking, they’ve got spaces available, which honestly saved me about thirty bucks a day compared to city center rates.
The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious for the price point. I had a one-bedroom unit that felt lived-in but not worn out, if that makes sense. The kitchen actually had everything I needed (decent-sized fridge, proper stovetop, even a dishwasher), which was perfect since there’s a Woolworths just down the road and I could grab groceries instead of eating out every meal. The bed was comfortable enough – not luxury hotel level, but I slept well. You do get some street noise from Lambert Street, but it’s not terrible and quiets down after about 10 PM. The air conditioning worked great, which in Brisbane summer is basically non-negotiable. What I really appreciated was the little balcony – nothing huge, but enough space for morning coffee while watching the city wake up. The 7.9 rating feels about right to me; it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers solid value and comfort. If you’re looking for something between a cramped hotel room and an expensive serviced apartment, and you want to actually experience Brisbane like a local rather than just being stuck in the tourist bubble, Story Apartments hits that sweet spot perfectly.
