Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Mt Ommaney Hotel Apartments, I wasn’t expecting much from the exterior. It sits right there on the corner where Centenary Highway meets Dandenong Road, and you know what? That actually turned out to be pretty brilliant. I mean, you’re literally five minutes from the Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre if you need anything, and the highway access means you can be in the city or out to the western suburbs without dealing with suburban street maze nonsense.

The thing about this place is it’s properly set up for people who need more than just a bed for the night. These are actual apartments – I had a full kitchen (decent-sized fridge, proper stovetop), separate living area, and honestly, the space felt bigger than my last city rental. The furnishing is what I’d call “practical comfortable” – nothing fancy, but everything works and it’s clean. The air conditioning was a lifesaver during that weird February heat wave, and I actually appreciated that the windows open properly for those cooler evenings when you want fresh air instead of recycled hotel atmosphere. Parking was straightforward too, which if you’ve ever tried to park around Brisbane’s inner suburbs, you’ll appreciate that simple luxury.

What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night – yeah, you’re on a main road, but the building’s set back enough that traffic noise isn’t really an issue once you’re inside. The staff were genuinely helpful when I needed directions to the good coffee spot (there’s this little place about ten minutes walk toward the river that locals actually go to). I stayed during a pretty busy period and check-in was smooth, no drama. The area itself is one of those Brisbane spots that’s not touristy at all, which I actually prefer – you get a real sense of how people actually live here. There’s a decent walking path system if you head toward the river, and the local pub down the road serves proper meals, not just chips and sad sandwiches. For a 3-star place, it delivers exactly what you’d hope for without trying to be something it’s not. Perfect if you need space to spread out, want to cook your own breakfast, or you’re staying more than a couple nights and need to feel a bit settled.
