Mercure Brisbane Spring Hill
Mercure Brisbane Spring Hill
You know what struck me first about the Mercure Brisbane Spring Hill?
You know what struck me first about the Mercure Brisbane Spring Hill? It’s actually got this unexpectedly quiet vibe despite being right on Wickham Terrace – and if you know Brisbane, you’ll know that’s saying something. I mean, Wickham Terrace can get pretty hectic during peak hours, but once you’re inside, there’s this sort of calm that settles over the place. The lobby has this understated elegance thing going on, nothing too flashy, but you can tell they’ve put thought into it. Check-in was smooth (I got there around 3 PM on a Tuesday, so maybe I just got lucky), and the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood well when I asked about walking routes.
Here’s the thing about this location that most people don’t realize until they’re there – you’re basically at the perfect launching point for both the city and the inner north. Walk down the hill and you’re in the CBD in about ten minutes, but honestly, Spring Hill itself has become this little hub that’s worth exploring. There’s some fantastic coffee spots tucked away on side streets that the hotel staff pointed me toward, and I found myself just wandering around the area more than I expected. The rooms are solid – nothing revolutionary, but they’ve got that reliable comfort factor down. Mine faced away from the main road, so it was genuinely quiet at night, though I’d probably ask about room orientation when booking if you’re a light sleeper. The bed was one of those properly firm ones that actually lets you sleep well, and the shower had decent pressure (you know how hit-or-miss hotel showers can be).
What I really appreciated was how the place doesn’t try too hard to be something it’s not. It’s a 4-star hotel that delivers on being a 4-star hotel – the kind of place where everything just works without any drama. The fitness center is small but functional, there’s parking (though you’ll pay for it, because Brisbane), and the restaurant does a decent breakfast that’ll set you up for the day. I actually ended up chatting with a couple from Melbourne who’d been coming back here for years whenever they’re in Brisbane, and I get why. It’s got that reliable, comfortable feel that makes you think “yeah, I could stay here again.” The 7.7 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s not going to let you down either. And honestly, sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re traveling.

Location & amazing staff service
I requested an early check in and got it. Staff were very helpful
Breakfast was good with ‘complimentary’ barista made coffee but more cereal options (like weetbix with gluten) needed.
