Rocklea International Motel
Rocklea International Motel
You know what?
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the Rocklea International Motel on Ipswich Road – I mean, it’s right there on one of Brisbane’s busier arterials, and motels can be pretty hit-or-miss. But honestly, this place surprised me in the best way possible. The moment you walk into the lobby, there’s this sense that someone actually cares about the details here. The staff genuinely seem to know what they’re doing, and check-in was refreshingly smooth – no weird hidden fees or confusing room explanations.
The location is actually pretty clever if you think about it. Sure, you’re not in the heart of the city, but you’re perfectly positioned if you need to get anywhere quickly. I mean, you’ve got the Logan Motorway right there, plus easy access to both the airport and the CBD without dealing with all that inner-city chaos. And here’s something most people don’t realize – Rocklea’s got some serious hidden gems for food. There’s this little Vietnamese place just down the road that locals swear by, and the markets on weekends are absolutely worth getting up early for. The rooms themselves are what I’d call “properly comfortable” – not trying to be fancy, just doing everything right. The beds are actually decent (you know how hit-or-miss motel beds can be), and the air conditioning works without sounding like a freight train. What really got me was the attention to cleanliness – everything felt fresh, and the housekeeping clearly takes pride in their work.
Parking’s abundant, which is honestly a godsend around Brisbane these days, and the property feels secure without being fortress-like. The pool area is nothing fancy, but it’s clean and gets good sun in the afternoons. I stayed during a particularly busy period in the city, and while you can hear some traffic from Ipswich Road, it’s more of a gentle hum than anything disruptive – actually kind of soothing once you get used to it. The whole place has this relaxed, no-nonsense vibe that I really appreciated. It’s the kind of spot where business travelers and families both seem comfortable, which isn’t always easy to pull off. For the price point and the solid 4-star rating, you’re getting honest value here – not bells and whistles you’ll never use, just a really well-run place that does the fundamentals exceptionally well. If you’re looking for somewhere reliable in Brisbane’s south that won’t break the bank but still feels like they respect your business, this is definitely worth considering.

What Our Guests Say
The location was excellent and very close to where we needed to get to daily. The reception was very obliging and helpful when we requested a room change due to being neear smoking section on premises. The bed was extremely comfortable and room very clean. Am planning on staying here again next year.
Fairly modern and comfortable.
The bathroom could do with a upgrade.
The air conditioner was already on when I arrived at the room. There was good bedside lights with easy to reach light switch. It was an easy 8 min walk to Rocklea Station with breakfast available at the Rocklea Station cafe…across from the Railway station. Or a meal at the Rocklea Hotel. No traffic noise, good wifi.
