Manor Apartment Hotel
You know what caught me off guard about Manor Apartment Hotel?
You know what caught me off guard about Manor Apartment Hotel? It’s actually got this really solid apartment-style setup right in the thick of Queen Street, but somehow it doesn’t feel like you’re sleeping above a shopping mall. I mean, you’re literally surrounded by all the CBD chaos – the Queen Street Mall is basically at your doorstep, and there’s this constant hum of city life – but once you get inside, it’s surprisingly peaceful.
The thing about staying here is that you get way more space than your typical hotel room. These are proper apartment-style suites with actual kitchens (not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation), which honestly makes a huge difference if you’re staying more than a couple nights. The living areas are decent-sized, and I loved having a real dining table instead of trying to balance room service on the bed. The bathrooms are nothing fancy, but they’re clean and well-maintained – though the water pressure can be a bit hit-or-miss depending on which floor you’re on. The décor is sort of neutral modern, maybe a little dated but not in a bad way, more like your aunt’s well-kept apartment from the early 2000s.
What really works about this place is the location without the tourist trap pricing. You’re a two-minute walk from Central Station, which is clutch if you’re coming from the airport or planning day trips. The Queen Street Mall pedestrian area means you don’t have to deal with car traffic right outside your window, but you’ll definitely hear the occasional street performer or late-night revelers – it’s the CBD, after all. I actually found the energy pretty energizing during the day, though light sleepers might want to pack earplugs. The building itself sits on a corner, so depending on your room, you might get views toward the river or just the urban landscape – both have their charm, honestly.
Staff-wise, they’re genuinely helpful without being overly formal. Check-in was smooth, and when I had questions about where to find decent coffee that wasn’t Starbucks (there’s a great little place called Campos around the corner on Adelaide Street, by the way), they actually knew what they were talking about. The 8.3 rating makes sense – it’s not luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises. Parking is available but it’ll cost you, which is pretty standard for anywhere in the Brisbane CBD. If you’re looking for that boutique hotel experience with turndown service and fancy toiletries, this isn’t it. But if you want a comfortable base in the heart of the city where you can actually spread out and live a bit, Manor Apartment Hotel hits the mark. Plus, being right on Queen Street means you’re never more than a few minutes from whatever you need, whether that’s groceries, restaurants, or just good people-watching.
