Manly Marina Cove Motel
Manly Marina Cove Motel
Look, I've stayed at plenty of places around Brisbane over the years, and honestly, the Manly Marina Cove Motel surprised me in the best way.
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places around Brisbane over the years, and honestly, the Manly Marina Cove Motel surprised me in the best way. When you first pull up to that corner where Royal Esplanade meets Davenport Drive, you’re not expecting much – I mean, it’s a motel, right? But the moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about this place. The lobby has that clean, maritime feel without being cheesy about it, and the staff actually seem to know the area rather than just reading from a script.
What really gets me is the location – you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Manly Marina, which means you can watch the boats coming and going while you have your morning coffee. The ferry terminal is right there too, so getting into the city is actually pretty simple, though honestly, once you’re in Manly you might not want to leave. The rooms themselves are bigger than you’d expect, and they’ve clearly been updated recently. I appreciated the little touches – decent coffee setup, proper blackout curtains (trust me, the Queensland sun is no joke), and bathrooms that don’t feel like afterthoughts. You know what I liked most? The balcony views. Even the “standard” rooms have decent outlooks, and if you’re facing the water… well, let’s just say I spent more time out there than I planned.
The thing about Manly is that it’s got this laid-back vibe that’s hard to find closer to Brisbane proper. You can walk to the beach – it’s about five minutes to the foreshore – or grab dinner at one of the waterfront restaurants without dealing with the crowds you get at places like Southbank. The motel sits right in that sweet spot where you’re close enough to everything but far enough away that you’re not hearing traffic all night. Parking is included, which honestly saved me about $25 a night compared to city hotels, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the walls aren’t super thick, so if you’re next to a family with kids, you might hear some noise – but that’s pretty standard for most places in this price range. With an 8.7 rating, I’m clearly not the only one who thinks they’re doing something right here. If you want to experience Brisbane’s bayside without the tourist trap feeling, this is actually a really solid choice.

What Our Guests Say
Such a comfortable bed. Enjoyed the bath. Staff were really friendly and made note of why you're there to engage in conversation. They also let me check in a little earlier which I was really grateful for after a long overnight international flight. Walking distance to some nice cafes. Easy access to the wharf for scuba diving meeting.
Breakfast at the adjacent RQYS was very good, with great views across the marina. Very comfortable bed, air conditioner super quiet and efficient. The location was excellent for those who like to be close to the water, with a walking track along the Wynnum/Manly foreshore. Walking distance to a small IGA supermarket and numerous cafes and restaurants. Free on-site parking was welcome.
We were at an event at the Yacht Club next door so a perfect location. Small pool was a lovely bonus on a hot day. Access to a laundry on site was invaluable. Very friendly and hospitable staff.
Perfect location for us - right next to the marina for a sailing race. Everything was excellent, particularly the managers! Very friendly and helpful. They printed something for me at no extra charge and gave us milk for our coffee. The bathroom sink soap dispenser overflowed and they fixed it right away. Everything was clean and well stocked mini "kitchen". Room service was good and appreciate that they actually "walk the talk" with respect to not washing towel's every day to conserve water and energy. Very comfortable beds. Quiet.
