Look, I’ll be straight with you about FV Valley House – it’s one of those places that quietly does its job without making a big fuss about it. When I first walked up to the building, honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star spot in Fortitude Valley, but you know what? Sometimes the unassuming places surprise you in the best ways.
The thing about staying here is that you’re actually in the thick of things without paying those ridiculous prices you’d shell out closer to the CBD. I mean, Fortitude Valley has this whole gritty-meets-trendy vibe that’s pretty authentic Brisbane – you’ve got your late-night music venues bumping up against cute little cafes, and street art that actually means something to the locals. The hotel sits right in this mix, which means you’ll hear some street noise (especially on weekends when the Valley comes alive), but that’s sort of the point of staying here instead of some sterile place out in the suburbs. The staff seem to get that most guests are here for the experience, not just a bed, and they’re pretty helpful about pointing you toward the good stuff – like which laneway has the best coffee or where to grab a decent bite after 10 PM.
What really won me over, though, was how the place handles the basics without trying to be something it’s not. The rooms are clean and functional, the Wi-Fi actually works (thank god), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The bathroom’s nothing fancy, but the water pressure’s solid and everything feels properly maintained. Check-in was refreshingly quick – none of that drawn-out process where they try to upsell you on breakfast packages or spa treatments. Parking can be a bit of a dance around here, but honestly, that’s just Valley life, and you’re close enough to public transport that you might not even need a car once you’re settled. I’d say the 7.8 rating is pretty spot-on – it’s not trying to be a luxury experience, but it delivers on what it promises. If you’re the type who wants to be walking distance from some of Brisbane’s better music venues, interesting restaurants, and that whole creative energy the Valley’s known for, this place makes a lot of sense. Just don’t expect to get much sleep on Friday nights unless you’re a heavy sleeper – but then again, if you’re staying in Fortitude Valley, you’re probably not planning on early bedtimes anyway.

What Our Guests Say
Very good
Superb
Could be good, as it is currently, not worth the price charged! Has the potential to be a wonderful apartment.
Lively views, and good common area with a gym and pool.
What could be improved: Did not live up to promises made in the advertising.
Firstly 'free high speed wifi for work, streaming, and staying connected'. When I arrived, there was no modem even plugged in. I was asked to unbox the modem that I found in a draw and plug it in myself, but was unable to get it working. Eventually someone came to set up the modem, but it still resulted in the first 24 hours with no wifi.
In addition, the ad states 'fully equipped kitchen with high end appliances, perfect for home cooked meals'. I did not plan on cooking a lot, but always bring breakfast items with me to reduce the need for eating out. Imagine my surprise when there were no plates, bowls, mugs, pots or pans. Strangely enough, there is a colander and grater in the draw, but they're not much use without the other items! I did have plates and bowls delivered on day two, but still no mugs which is very strange considering tea and coffee items were provided. Luckily I had my travel flask with me to make tea in, but it should be a minimum expectation that apartments like this have mugs. This is why I book apartments like this over hotel rooms, in order to have these conveniences.
"Smart TV" : the TV in the lounge did not work, and neither are smart tvs. The bedroom one at least is not able to be connected to streaming services and can only watch regular tv, the lounge one cannot connect to anything and only displayed a black screen reading 'network connection lost, please contact front desk'. The lounge room remote also did not work. There is possibly a way to fix it but with no staff on site it makes addressing problems difficult.
"Private balcony, perfect for morning coffee or evening drinks": there is no outdoor furniture, so unless you want to stand out there, this statement is quite misleading (let alone there being no mugs provided for said morning drink).
The kitchen draws were dirty and filled with junk (a random battery, old rubber bands etc).
Brilliant stay. Staff need work Everything was perfect for a nice relaxing stay can’t complain about the apartment or facilities
What could be improved: Hotel staff were very snooty and almost looked down on me for staying there? He was very passive aggressive and judgy. Not a fan
