So I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to the Fortitude Valley Apartments on Alfred Street, I wasn’t expecting much. The building itself is pretty understated from the outside, but honestly? That ended up being part of its charm. You’re right in the thick of Fortitude Valley without all the tourist-trap nonsense, which means you get to experience Brisbane like someone who actually lives here.
The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious – I mean, we’re talking proper living space, not those cramped hotel rooms where you’re bumping into furniture every five minutes. What really got me was the kitchen setup. It’s actually functional, you know? Like, you could legitimately cook a proper meal if you wanted to, though with all the incredible food spots within walking distance, you might not bother. The whole place has this modern-but-not-trying-too-hard vibe that I really appreciated. Clean lines, decent WiFi (tested it extensively, obviously), and the kind of furnishings that don’t make you wonder what happened on them before you arrived.
Location-wise, you’re golden here. Brunswick Street is literally around the corner – that’s where all the action happens, from late-night eats to those little boutique shops that Brisbane does so well. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize: Alfred Street is just far enough removed that you’re not dealing with the weekend crowds stumbling past your window at 2 AM. I stayed during Bigsound festival (if you know, you know), and while I could hear the distant buzz of the city, it wasn’t keeping me awake. The Chinese quarter is a five-minute walk, and honestly, some of the best dumplings I’ve had outside of actual China are right there. Valley Metro station is close enough that you don’t need to think about transport, but far enough that you’re not hearing trains all night.
What surprised me most was the little touches – proper blackout curtains (thank you, universe), decent water pressure in the shower, and air conditioning that actually works. The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward, none of that “let me tell you about seventeen amenities you’ll never use” speech. Parking can be a bit of a dance around here, but that’s Fortitude Valley for you – it comes with the territory of being in one of Brisbane’s most happening neighborhoods. The building’s got that secure entry thing sorted, which is nice when you’re coming back from exploring the city with your guard slightly down. Overall, it’s the kind of place where you can spread out, live a bit, and still be in the heart of everything without paying those ridiculous city hotel prices. The 4.5 stars feel earned, not inflated.

Everything clean and new . Great personal hygiene products. Nice sheets and comfortable bed. Great swimming pool, but cold water.
Nice, comfy, swimming pool, they had a cot and carpark option.
I liked the size of the apartment and the access to kitchen facilities. Parking was easy, the pool was beautiful and the staff were lovely.
Location, facilities were excellent.
Super convenient and easy access to everything. Rooftop pool and view amazing!
Lovely apartment, everything one could ask for. Check in difficult though, no one sent me QR codes or details on how to check in. Reception a little bit put out, I guess they're used to guests doing all the work! Bring back a proper reception. Staff over computers all day.
Great place to stay soooo comfortable
