The location is what really makes this place shine, though you might not realize it at first glance. Bowen Hills isn’t exactly the flashy part of Brisbane, but that’s actually why it works so well. You’re literally a five-minute walk to the RNA Showgrounds – which is fantastic if you’re in town for an event – and the train station is close enough that you can hear the occasional rumble, but it’s not disruptive. I mean, I’m pretty sensitive to noise and slept fine. What I really loved was how easy it was to get into the city proper; the trains run frequently and you’re in the heart of Brisbane in about ten minutes. Plus, there’s this great little strip of cafes along St Pauls Terrace that locals actually use – you know, the kind where they remember your coffee order after two visits.

The apartments themselves feel like someone actually lives there, not like a sterile hotel room. The kitchens are properly equipped (I’m talking real knives, not those useless things most places give you), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The WiFi is solid – I worked from there for three days without any issues – and the air conditioning actually works well, which honestly isn’t a given in Brisbane’s humidity. What impressed me most was the attention to small details: decent hangers in the closets, multiple power outlets where you actually need them, and blackout curtains that do their job. The building’s got this quiet, residential feel even though you’re staying in what’s essentially a hotel. Parking was included, which saved me about thirty bucks a day compared to city hotels, and the underground garage meant I didn’t have to worry about my rental car getting cooked in the Queensland sun. The staff – well, you don’t see them much, which is kind of the point with apartment-style accommodation, but when I needed something, they were genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions. It’s got that sweet spot of hotel services when you need them but apartment independence when you don’t.
