Look, I'll be honest – when I first walked into Anzac Executive Apartments, I wasn't expecting much from another Brisbane CBD accommodation.
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Anzac Executive Apartments, I wasn’t expecting much from another Brisbane CBD accommodation. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The building itself has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream “look at me” like some of the flashier hotels along Queen Street, but once you’re inside, you realize they’ve put thought into the details that actually matter.
The apartments – and I mean proper apartments, not those cramped hotel rooms with a mini-fridge they try to pass off as suites – give you actual breathing room. The kitchens are functional enough that you could cook a decent meal if you wanted to (though honestly, with Eagle Street Pier just a short walk away, why would you?). What really got me was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re right in the thick of everything. I mean, you’re practically on top of the business district, but somehow the street noise doesn’t creep in like it does at some places I’ve stayed near the Queen Street Mall area. The beds are solid too – none of that sinking-into-quicksand feeling you sometimes get with hotel mattresses.
Here’s the thing about the location that most people don’t realize until they’re there: you’re actually positioned perfectly to skip the tourist traps while still being close to everything worthwhile. The Riverside Expressway is right there if you need to get out of the city quickly, but you can also just wander down to the botanical gardens when you need a break from the concrete. I found myself walking to work meetings around Creek Street and the legal district without breaking a sweat, and grabbing coffee at some of the local spots that aren’t overrun with tourists. The staff seems to get that most people staying here are either business travelers or locals who know what they want – they’re helpful without being pushy, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this part of town (let’s face it, that’s true anywhere in the CBD), but they sort that out for you without the usual Brisbane parking headaches. I’d definitely come back here, especially if I needed to be in the city for more than just a night or two – it’s got that lived-in feel that makes extended stays actually comfortable instead of feeling like you’re camping out in a hotel room.

What could be improved: It was very noisy in the bedroom as the window was facing the main road. We had to sleep with ear plugs.
