Look, I’ll be straight with you about the Airport Motel Brisbane – it’s one of those places that surprises you in the best possible way. Sure, the name screams “generic roadside stop,” but honestly? After staying here a few times when catching early flights, I’ve come to appreciate what they’ve got going on. The location on Kingsford Smith Drive is actually pretty clever – you’re literally five minutes from the domestic terminal, but you’re also right there in Hamilton where there’s decent coffee and not just airport food court sadness.
The rooms are clean and functional without trying to be something they’re not. I mean, don’t expect marble bathrooms or anything fancy, but the beds are comfortable (surprisingly so), and the air conditioning works properly – which, let’s be honest, is half the battle in Brisbane’s humidity. What I really like is that they’ve obviously put thought into the little things travelers actually need. The Wi-Fi is solid, there are plenty of power outlets, and the blackout curtains actually block out light (crucial when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag or catch a few hours before a dawn flight). The parking situation is straightforward too – no hunting around for spaces or dealing with valet nonsense.
Here’s the thing that keeps me coming back though – the staff genuinely seem to get that most people staying here are in transit and maybe a bit stressed about flights. They’re helpful without being pushy, and I’ve never had issues with early check-ins or storing luggage. The breakfast is basic but decent – nothing Instagram-worthy, but it’ll fuel you up without the airport markup. You know what’s also nice? It’s quiet enough that you can actually sleep, even though planes are taking off nearby. I was worried about that the first time, but the sound insulation is better than you’d expect. Plus, if you’re into plane spotting (or traveling with kids who are), you can actually see some takeoffs from certain rooms, which is kind of cool. The area itself has grown on me – Hamilton’s got some good spots within walking distance, and if you’ve got a longer layover or you’re staying an extra day, the Portside Wharf is right there with restaurants and river views. It’s not going to win any design awards, but for what it is – a solid, no-nonsense place to crash near the airport – it delivers exactly what you need without the usual airport hotel premium pricing.

Very clean and not far from shops
Perfect stopover hotel before flying out the next day. Room showed some wear & tear but was very clean. Renovated bathroom was perfect. Very friendly welcome.
Bathroom had been recently fitted out, so it was nice. Bed was very comfy. It wasn't noisy even close to a main road. Decent sized room. Breakfast was OK, limited option of toast, cereal, juice delivered to room, but was quite adequate. Reception friendly. There were helpful notes in the room of places nearby to get a meal.
Room was modern, large & clean.
