The Docks On Goodwin
The Docks On Goodwin
You know what struck me first about The Docks On Goodwin?
You know what struck me first about The Docks On Goodwin? It’s this perfectly positioned spot where you can actually see the city without being stuck in the middle of all the chaos. I mean, Kangaroo Point gets overlooked by a lot of visitors who think they need to stay right in the CBD, but honestly – this is where you want to be. The hotel sits right on Goodwin Street, and while that might not mean much if you’re not familiar with Brisbane, it’s basically prime real estate for anyone who wants to feel like they’re living in the city rather than just visiting it. The building itself has this interesting industrial-meets-boutique vibe that works really well with the whole riverside location. You can walk to the Story Bridge in about five minutes (and trust me, you’ll want to do that climb), but more importantly, you’re positioned perfectly to just wander around one of Brisbane’s most livable neighborhoods.
The rooms – well, they’re what you’d expect from a solid 4.5-star place, but it’s the little things that make it work. The beds are actually comfortable (not just hotel-comfortable), and the windows are big enough that you feel connected to what’s happening outside. I stayed on the third floor and could watch the CityCat ferries puttering along the river, which honestly became my favorite part of the morning routine. The bathrooms are done up nicely without being unnecessarily fancy, and here’s something that matters more than it should – the water pressure is excellent. Parking can be a bit of a dance depending on when you arrive, but the staff actually knows the area well enough to point you toward alternatives if their spots are full. The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward, no unnecessary upselling or confusing key card situations.
What really sells this place though is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re a quick walk from the Gabba if you’re into sports, but more practically, you’re close enough to South Bank that you can easily get there without planning your whole day around it. The local coffee scene is legitimately good – there’s this little place called Bacino Bar + Bistro about two blocks away that does better coffee than most hotel lobbies, and the staff will actually tell you about spots like this instead of just pushing their own restaurant. Evenings are pretty quiet around here, which I appreciated after spending days in the busier parts of the city. The ferry terminal is right there when you want to explore, but you can also just walk across the Story Bridge if you’re feeling energetic. It’s one of those places where you start to understand how Brisbane actually works as a city, rather than just hitting the obvious tourist spots. The 8.6 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it gets the fundamentals right and puts you somewhere that feels genuinely connected to what makes this part of Australia interesting.

Fantastic location, very comfortable and had Everything we needed
Definitely stay again
Beautiful pool area and not at all busy, had it to ourselves most of the time! Huge apartment, very nicely furnished. Nice location with short walk to two ferry stops, takes about an hour to get to North Quay. The new bridge across to the botanic gardens is a great addition! Was a bit worried about there being no air conditioning in the bedroom but the fan was very effective

We had a great time! The pool was everyone's favourite part of the holiday! The balcony was a close second. We'd sit admiring the view and relaxing. The rooms were very comfortable, and the air-conditioning helped us deal with the humidity we're not used to.
The kitchen was well appointed with everything we needed for a great time.
The new pedestrian bridge to the CBD is a major plus location wise
