Stamford Plaza Brisbane
Stamford Plaza Brisbane
You know what struck me first about the Stamford Plaza Brisbane?
You know what struck me first about the Stamford Plaza Brisbane? The way it sort of anchors that whole corner where Edward meets Margaret – I mean, you can’t miss it, but it doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard to dominate the CBD skyline. Walking up from the Eagle Street Pier area, it’s this solid, reassuring presence that actually makes sense for a five-star without all the flash you sometimes get with newer builds.
The thing is, this place gets Brisbane right in ways that surprised me. Sure, it’s got all the expected luxury touches – marble in the lobby, proper concierge service, rooms that don’t make you wince when you drop your luggage – but honestly, it’s the smaller stuff that won me over. The air conditioning actually works (and you’ll appreciate that come December), the windows open if you want some of that Brisbane air, and the staff genuinely seem to know the city. Like, when I asked about getting to South Bank without dealing with traffic, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward a taxi – he walked me outside and showed me the pedestrian bridge route. That kind of thing matters when you’re trying to navigate a place.
Location-wise, you’re basically in the thick of everything without being trapped in tourist central. Queen Street Mall is right there when you need it, but you can also wander down to the Botanic Gardens in about ten minutes, or catch the CityCat from Eagle Street if you want to see the river properly. The coffee situation around there is solid too – there’s this little place on Charlotte Street that does proper flat whites, and you’ll find yourself walking past it on the way to most things anyway. Parking’s hotel parking, which means expensive, but honestly, you probably won’t need a car much once you’re settled in. The rooms themselves feel like someone actually thought about how people travel – decent desk space, enough outlets, bathroom counter that can handle your stuff without everything sliding into the sink. I stayed on the seventh floor and it was quiet enough, though I’d probably ask for something higher up if you’re sensitive to street noise. Check-in was smooth, no drama, and they had my room ready early which saved me from wandering around the CBD with luggage in the heat. The whole experience just felt… competent, I suppose. Like they’ve figured out what works and aren’t messing with it for the sake of being trendy.

Great pool area, welcoming team. Good location.
Other than the mattress being too soft for my liking everything was excellent.
The view was great, if it wasn't raining (nothing you could do about it).
Fantastic stay over for our anniversary but we went out for dinner so missed the treat that they had organised for us from the kitchen. Wasa nice gesture though we missed it and were given Christmas box each when we left Christmas morning 🩷
