Look, I'll be honest – when I first pulled up to Soda Apartments on Cordelia Street, I wasn't expecting much.
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Soda Apartments on Cordelia Street, I wasn’t expecting much. South Brisbane isn’t exactly the glitzy part of town, but you know what? That actually works in this place’s favor. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Cultural Centre and all those riverside paths, but without the tourist crowd chaos that comes with staying right in the thick of things.
The apartments themselves are surprisingly well thought out – I mean, someone actually lived in a space like this before designing it, if that makes sense. The kitchens aren’t just for show (you can actually cook a proper meal), and there’s decent counter space, which honestly, most apartment hotels completely botch. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout, which matters when you’re trying to work from the little dining nook. What really got me was the attention to small stuff – proper blackout curtains that actually block the morning sun, and the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a jet engine. The building itself is pretty quiet too, even on weekends when the nearby pubs get lively.
Parking is sorted if you need it, though honestly, you might not use your car much once you’re settled in. The CityCat terminal is right there (West End’s literally across the river), and catching the train into the city proper takes maybe ten minutes. I actually found myself walking to work in the CBD most days – there’s something nice about crossing the Victoria Bridge in the morning, especially when the river’s calm. The neighborhood has this laid-back vibe that grows on you. Sure, it’s not as polished as New Farm or as trendy as Fortitude Valley, but there’s good coffee within a block, a decent bottle shop, and that little Vietnamese place on Grey Street that locals don’t really talk about but probably should. The only minor thing I’d mention is that some of the apartments face the main road, so if you’re sensitive to traffic noise, maybe request something toward the back when you book. Otherwise, it’s one of those places that just works – comfortable without being fancy, practical without being boring, and positioned so you feel like you’re actually living in Brisbane rather than just visiting it.

What could be improved: Check in after hours was difficult . Info sent to wrong person. when called number directions to lock box said it was to the right of the building on fish lane .when it was to the left ! Took 1 1/2 h to get in

Superb Really convenient for travelling for work, good food around. Small things were done really well, best pillows ever. Parking was also easy and not too expensive at $25 per night.

This is a perfect place to stay in Brisbane. Would not stay anywhere else. the location is fantastic for all kinds of food, as well as two nearby supermarkets for extras. Great coffee options everywhere! It was a quick walk to our conference location at the convention centre, for the local swimming pool and places to walk along the river and over to Roma Street Parklands. Also had two great visits to the Qld Art Gallery and the Modern Art Gallery - outstanding! The rooftop pool is fantastic too for a relax at the end of the day.
What could be improved: Nothing. The apartment was comfortable and had all the amenities I needed. I enjoyed the city skyline and the breezes on the 17th floor!

Great location and comfortable. I will stay again. Fabulous occasion. Walkable to everything I needed in Southbank and West End. Great local restaurants. Easy access to the CBD and for walks along the river. Plenty of bus and river cat options if needed.
What could be improved: Nothing about the apartment. Perhaps the pool is too small and crowded for use. Not a lot you can do about that though! Also, the rail transport in Brisbane was shut down whilst I was there. Inconvenient but temporary. Otherwise there are also train options to get around if needed.
