The kitchen’s actually functional too (I made coffee every morning and cooked a couple dinners), though the coffee machine took me a minute to figure out. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays even though you’re smack in the middle of everything – well, except for the occasional river traffic noise, but that’s kind of soothing actually. You’re walking distance to Eagle Street Pier, which locals will tell you is where the decent restaurants are, and Queen Street Mall is maybe ten minutes if you don’t mind a bit of a stroll.

Here’s the thing about staying in Brisbane CBD – parking can be a nightmare, but this building’s got secure spots available, and honestly that alone probably saves you fifty bucks a day in city parking fees. The check-in was surprisingly smooth (they send you codes beforehand, very straightforward), and the building itself feels secure without being stuffy. I stayed during a pretty busy period in March, and while the elevators got a bit crowded during morning rush, it wasn’t anything dramatic. The air conditioning works perfectly, which matters more than you’d think when Brisbane decides to turn up the heat. One small thing – the shower pressure is fantastic, but the bathroom gets a bit steamy because the ventilation’s just okay. Not a deal-breaker, just something I noticed after a few days. What really sets this apart from your typical hotel stay is that you’ve got proper space to spread out, do some work (the wifi’s solid), and actually live a bit while you’re visiting. Plus, being right on the river means you can walk along the boardwalk in the evenings when the city lights start reflecting on the water – sounds cheesy, but it’s actually pretty spectacular.
