Look, I've stayed at plenty of hotels in Brisbane's CBD, and honestly, the Royal Albert on Albert Street hits that sweet spot between comfort and location without breaking the bank.
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels in Brisbane’s CBD, and honestly, the Royal Albert on Albert Street hits that sweet spot between comfort and location without breaking the bank. When you walk in, there’s this classic charm that actually feels authentic – not like they’re trying too hard to be boutique-y, you know? The lobby has this warm, lived-in feel that immediately makes you think “okay, this place gets it.”
What really sold me on this spot is how it sits right in the thick of things without being chaotic. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Queen Street Mall – and I mean actually two minutes, not hotel marketing two minutes – but Albert Street itself is surprisingly quiet at night. I was worried about traffic noise when I booked, but honestly, once you’re up in your room, it’s pretty peaceful. The rooms themselves are well, they’re not going to win any design awards, but they’re thoughtfully put together. Good shower pressure (seriously underrated), comfortable beds, and the air conditioning actually works properly, which you definitely need during Brisbane summers. The staff at check-in were refreshingly straightforward – no over-the-top enthusiasm, just helpful people who seem to actually know the city.
Here’s what I really appreciate about the Royal Albert – it’s positioned perfectly for exploring Brisbane without feeling like you’re stuck in a tourist bubble. You can walk to South Bank in about fifteen minutes if you don’t mind a pleasant stroll, or hop on the CityCat from North Quay (five minutes away) and cruise along the river. The Central train station is close enough that you’re not lugging your bags forever, but far enough that you don’t hear the trains. And honestly, the food scene around here is solid – there’s this little Vietnamese place on Adelaide Street that locals actually go to, plus you’ve got everything from casual pubs to proper restaurants within walking distance. The hotel doesn’t try to trap you with an overpriced restaurant situation, which I respect. For a 4-star place, it delivers on the fundamentals without any pretension. The 8.4 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be the flashiest hotel in town, but it nails the stuff that actually matters when you’re traveling. If you want to be in the heart of Brisbane without paying premium prices for marble lobbies and champagne check-ins, this is your spot.

What Our Guests Say
The location was perfect and room facilities were great. Friendly and helpful staff who were available around the clock. The rooms were always clean and maintained. Big and spacious rooms with free wifi and TV selections too.
The rooms
Great location and the room was huge! Very comfortable beds and beautiful bathrooms. No street noise at all. Will definitely stay again.
Good room but entry door needed fixing - jams when opening and closing
The staff went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable.
The room was well-appointed and offered plenty of space to relax.
Location was absolutely perfect for a quick overnight stay. Walking distance to all the shopping and usual food outlets which keep kids happy. Alternative parking was close by and a very quick walk. The hotel is old, but well looked after. There is double glazed windows on top of the original window settings, and even with construction right outside, we couldn't really hear anything. Room Service menu is limited (no cereal/toast etc for breakfast), but lovely. They even brought up some raisin toast (not on the menu) for our autistic son, so that was appreciated. The 2 bed apartment that we stayed in was roomy, full cooking facilities if you bring your own food to eat.
Spacious, clean, very comfortable and in the heart of the city
Fantastic central location . Large room with brilliant facilities.
Great location, friendly, helpful staff, spacious sweet, good value. Also a nice restaurant downstairs.
