First Impressions
The Prince of Wales Hotel sits on Buckland Road in Brisbane, and honestly, it’s one of those places that surprises you in the best way. This three-star spot doesn’t try to be something it’s not — instead, it focuses on getting the basics absolutely right. The moment you pull up, you’ll notice the free parking right there (which, let me tell you, is worth its weight in gold in Brisbane), and there’s something refreshingly straightforward about the whole setup.
Location That Actually Works
Here’s what I love about where this hotel sits — it’s in one of those Brisbane neighborhoods that feels properly local without being inconvenient. Couples seem to get this particularly well, rating the location 8.7 out of 10, and I can see why. You’re close enough to the action but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the chaos of the CBD every time you step outside. The area has that lived-in Brisbane feel, you know what I mean? Real cafes, actual locals going about their business, and easy access to transport when you want to head into the city center.
The Room Experience
My room was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged. Nothing fancy, but everything worked properly, which is honestly more than you can say for some places charging twice the price. The beds are decent (I’m picky about mattresses), and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase without playing Tetris with the furniture. The bathroom was spotless, and I appreciated the little touches that showed someone actually cares about guest comfort.
Food Worth Talking About
Now this is where the Prince of Wales Hotel really stands out — the food is genuinely good. I mean, hotel dining can be hit or miss, but recent guests have been raving about the meals here, and after trying the restaurant myself, I get the hype. The menu isn’t trying to reinvent Australian cuisine, but what they do, they do well. Portions are generous, ingredients taste fresh, and the staff actually knows what they’re serving. It’s the kind of place where you might find yourself eating dinner at the hotel by choice, not just convenience.
Why Guests Love It
Look, the Prince of Wales Hotel earns its 7.3 rating through solid execution rather than flashy amenities. What you get here is reliability — a place that understands what travelers actually need and delivers on those basics consistently. The location works for both business and leisure travelers, the parking situation is sorted, and you can count on a good meal without leaving the building. It’s not going to wow you with over-the-top service or designer everything, but it’ll give you a comfortable base in Brisbane without any nasty surprises. Sometimes that’s exactly what you’re looking for.
Brisbane hotels keep travelers close to Story Bridge climbs, Howard Smith Wharves, and scenic CityCat ferries.

Location
very quick and easy to get to the airport. Friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble
Location and price
Good location and food
It's close to a town where I just walk to the supermarket to buy some groceries.
I stayed here because I was leaving to the airport really early next day. It’s really expensive considering the state of the hotel and that the bathroom is shared.
