Honestly, when I first walked into this place on Wickham Street, I wasn’t prepared for just how much those “sensational views” would actually live up to their name. You know that moment when you step into a space and immediately think “okay, this is going to be good”? That’s exactly what happened here. The floor-to-ceiling windows frame Brisbane’s skyline in a way that makes you want to just stand there with your coffee for way longer than necessary – and I mean, I actually did that every morning.

The location is what really sets this apart though. Fortitude Valley gets a bit of a reputation for being all nightlife and chaos, but staying right on Wickham Street puts you in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to everything without being in the thick of it. I could walk to James Street in about eight minutes for proper shopping and cafes, and getting into the city was ridiculously easy – the train station is literally around the corner. What surprised me most was how quiet it actually gets at night, even on weekends. I mean, you’ll hear some street noise (it’s the Valley after all), but nothing that keeps you awake unless you’re a really light sleeper.

The apartment itself feels like someone actually thought about how people live, not just how a hotel room should look. Both bedrooms are genuinely spacious – I’ve stayed in plenty of “luxury” places where you’re basically climbing over the bed to get to the bathroom. The kitchen is properly equipped too, which matters when you’re staying more than a couple nights. I ended up cooking breakfast most mornings because, well, why not when you’ve got that view as your dining room backdrop? The whole place has this modern but lived-in feel that makes you settle in immediately. My only real complaint is that the air conditioning in the main living area works overtime – took me a day to figure out the right setting that wouldn’t turn the place into an icebox. Check-in was smooth, though parking can be a bit of a hunt during busy periods. There’s street parking if you’re lucky, but I’d honestly just factor in nearby paid parking if you’re driving. The building itself is solid – good lifts, clean hallways, the kind of place where you don’t feel weird about bringing groceries up in your pajamas. For what you’re paying, especially with that location and those views, it’s actually pretty solid value. Brisbane’s accommodation scene can be hit or miss, but this one definitely hits.
