Honestly, when I first walked into this sub-penthouse in Brisbane's CBD, I wasn't sure what to expect – I mean, "sub-penthouse" sounds a bit made up, doesn't it?
Honestly, when I first walked into this sub-penthouse in Brisbane’s CBD, I wasn’t sure what to expect – I mean, “sub-penthouse” sounds a bit made up, doesn’t it? But you know what, it actually delivers on the promise. The casino views are legitimately impressive, especially at night when all the lights from Treasury Casino and the Story Bridge create this urban glitter that makes you feel like you’re in some kind of movie.
The space itself feels properly luxurious without being stuffy about it. You’ve got floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the city perfectly, and the layout is smart – the living area flows naturally into the bedroom area without feeling cramped. What I really appreciated was the attention to little details that most places miss. The blackout curtains actually work (shocking, I know), the shower pressure is fantastic, and there’s enough power outlets that you don’t have to unplug the bedside lamp to charge your phone. The kitchen setup is more than just for show too – proper appliances if you want to grab groceries from the Woolworths on Adelaide Street rather than eating out every meal.
Location-wise, you’re right in the thick of things but surprisingly quiet given how central you are. Queen Street Mall is literally a five-minute walk, and you’re close enough to South Bank that you can easily stroll over for dinner or just to escape the CBD energy for a bit. Parking can be a bit of a pain – well, it’s Brisbane CBD, so that’s sort of expected – but there’s secure parking available in the building, which honestly makes all the difference. The building itself has that modern Brisbane feel without trying too hard to be flashy. Check-in was smooth, no weird keycard issues or confusing elevator access like some of these newer developments have. I stayed during a weekend when there was some kind of conference happening at the Convention Centre, and while the area was busy, the room stayed peaceful. The 9.3 rating makes complete sense when you experience it – it’s one of those places that gets the fundamentals right and then adds enough special touches to make you feel like you’re treating yourself properly. If you’re looking for something that feels more like a proper apartment than a hotel room, with views that remind you why Brisbane’s skyline has gotten so impressive lately, this is definitely worth considering.
