Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of Brisbane apartments over the years, but this place on Margaret Street actually surprised me. When you first walk in, you get that “oh, this is actually nice” feeling – you know what I mean? The kind where you’re not immediately scanning for what’s broken or outdated. It’s genuinely new, and honestly, that makes such a difference when you’re trying to settle in somewhere for more than just a night.
The location is what really sold me though. I mean, Margaret Street puts you right in the thick of things without the chaos of Queen Street Mall crowds. You’re literally a two-minute walk to the botanical gardens (which, let’s be honest, most tourists completely miss), and the ferry terminal is close enough that you can hear the boats – but not so close that it’s annoying. Actually, I kind of liked that sound in the morning. The apartment itself has this corner position that gives you decent views, and the windows are big enough that you don’t feel like you’re in a typical cramped city rental. The kitchen is one of those modern setups where everything actually works – the coffee machine, the dishwasher, even the can opener (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case). Both bedrooms are a good size, and the beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with that hotel-bed back ache.
What I really appreciated were the little things that show someone actually thought about what travelers need. There’s enough closet space for two people staying a week, the WiFi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and – this might sound weird – but the shower pressure is fantastic. Plus, the building has secure parking, which in Brisbane CBD is worth its weight in gold. The only minor thing is that Margaret Street can get a bit busy during peak hours, but honestly, if you’re staying in the city center, that’s just part of the deal. The whole Queens Wharf development is transforming this part of town anyway, so you’re kind of staying in the middle of Brisbane’s next big thing. I’d definitely stay here again, especially for the price point – it feels more like a proper apartment than a short-term rental, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to actually live somewhere for a few days rather than just crash.
