Jephson Hotel & Apartments
Look, I've stayed in a lot of places around Brisbane, and the Jephson Hotel & Apartments genuinely surprised me.
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Brisbane, and the Jephson Hotel & Apartments genuinely surprised me. When you first pull up on Jephson Street, it’s one of those moments where you think “okay, this might actually be good” – the building has this solid, welcoming presence that doesn’t try too hard to impress, but you can tell someone cares about the details.
What really got me was how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between hotel service and apartment flexibility. I mean, you’ve got proper hotel perks like daily housekeeping and a decent front desk (they actually know the area, which is rarer than it should be), but your room feels like a real space you can settle into. The kitchenettes aren’t just token gestures either – I actually cooked breakfast a couple times instead of hunting for cafes at 7 AM. The apartments are surprisingly spacious, honestly bigger than some city center places that charge twice as much. There’s something about having a proper living area that makes you feel less like you’re camping out in someone else’s space, you know?
But here’s the thing about Toowong that people don’t always realize – it’s actually perfectly positioned if you want to avoid the tourist circus while still being connected to everything. You’re literally a ten-minute train ride from the city center, but you can also walk to the botanic gardens or catch the CityCat ferry without dealing with all the Queen Street crowds. The hotel’s tucked away enough that you won’t hear buses rumbling past your window at midnight, but close enough to Toowong Village that you can grab groceries or decent coffee without thinking twice about it. I found myself walking to that little strip of restaurants near the station most evenings – there’s a Vietnamese place that locals actually go to, which is always a good sign.
The staff here seem like they’ve been around long enough to know what works and what doesn’t. Check-in was smooth, they had actual suggestions when I asked about running routes (apparently the river path is spectacular at sunrise, and they were right), and housekeeping didn’t rearrange all my stuff like they’re staging a photo shoot. Small things, but they add up. The WiFi actually works properly throughout the building, which saved me from having to camp out in the lobby like some places I could mention. Parking’s included too, which in Brisbane is basically like finding money in your pocket.
I’ll be honest – it’s not the flashiest place you’ll ever stay, and if you’re looking for a rooftop pool or champagne service, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a place that feels like you’re staying somewhere real, with enough space to spread out and a location that puts you in the actual rhythm of the city rather than the tourist version of it, the Jephson really delivers. I’ve already booked it again for next month, which probably tells you everything you need to know.

close to transport to the city and venues.
Great location and nice apartments
Easy to get to & shops close by. It was clean & modern. The pillows were so comfy.
Location was great for us not far away from the venue we went to. Plenty of restaurants and take away within walking distance. Each bedroom had its own ensuite
Comfortable & clean. Beautiful king beds
Location
I always love to stay at the Jephson because of the area it is in.
The location is really good, close to shops and restaurants. I've booked the family room, the room is a little bit too small for us. More space would be great.
Locations, free parking, Katsuco restaurant and staff are excellent!
