Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Inn on the Park Apartments on Patrick Lane, I wasn’t expecting much. Auchenflower isn’t exactly the flashiest suburb in Brisbane, but you know what? That’s actually part of its charm. This place sits in one of those perfectly positioned spots where you’re close enough to everything that matters without dealing with the chaos of the city center.

The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious – I mean, actually spacious, not just “spacious for Brisbane” spacious. Mine had this decent-sized living area that didn’t feel cramped, and the kitchen was properly equipped (not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation). The whole setup feels more like staying in someone’s well-appointed apartment than a typical hotel room. What really got me was the attention to detail – proper blackout curtains that actually block light, decent water pressure in the shower, and thank god, air conditioning that works without sounding like a freight train. The building’s got that solid, quiet feel to it too, which you don’t always get with apartment-style accommodations.

Here’s the thing about the location that most people don’t realize until they’re actually staying there – you’re literally a five-minute walk to the Brisbane River, and the bike paths along there are fantastic if you’re into that sort of thing. Plus, getting into the CBD is dead easy; there’s a bus stop right around the corner, and honestly, the drive into town takes maybe ten minutes when traffic’s not being ridiculous. I found myself walking to places I’d normally take transport to, which was… actually kind of nice. The neighborhood has this lived-in feeling – there’s a decent coffee shop about two blocks away (the barista actually remembered my order by day three), and you’re close enough to Toowong that you can grab groceries or whatever else you need without it being a whole expedition. Parking was straightforward too – they’ve got proper spaces, not those tiny spots where you’re playing automotive Tetris. The staff were genuinely helpful without being overly chatty, which I appreciated after dealing with some overly enthusiastic hotel teams elsewhere. If I had to nitpick, the WiFi occasionally got a bit sluggish in the evenings when everyone was streaming, but it wasn’t anything that made me want to throw my laptop out the window.
