Hotel Diana Woolloongabba
You know what struck me first about Hotel Diana Woolloongabba?
You know what struck me first about Hotel Diana Woolloongabba? It’s actually got character – and I don’t mean that in the backhanded way people usually say it about older places. This 4-star spot on Annerley Road feels like someone put real thought into making it work for travelers who aren’t just passing through. The lobby has this warm, lived-in quality that immediately made me relax after the usual airport-to-hotel scramble. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no upselling, no endless explanations of amenities I’ll never use, just genuine helpfulness from staff who clearly know the area inside and out.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience Brisbane like someone who actually lives here, not just the tourist circuit. You’re right in Woolloongabba, which means you can walk to some seriously good coffee spots (there’s this place around the corner that does flat whites that’ll ruin Starbucks for you forever), and you’re close enough to South Brisbane that crossing the river for dinner or a show doesn’t feel like an expedition. The Gabba is practically next door if you’re into cricket or footy, and honestly, even if you’re not, there’s something pretty cool about staying in a neighborhood where locals are genuinely passionate about their teams. Street parking can be a bit tricky during event days – I learned that the hard way – but the hotel staff actually warned me about upcoming matches and suggested times to move my car. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t get from chain hotels.
What really sets this place apart is how it balances being polished without feeling sterile. The rooms are well-appointed (that 4-star rating isn’t just for show), but they’ve got personality – actual artwork on the walls, decent lighting for reading, and windows that actually open, which is rarer than it should be these days. The bed was one of those where I actually slept better than at home, and the bathroom had proper water pressure and toiletries that didn’t smell like industrial cleaner. It’s the kind of place where you can tell they’ve had real guests give feedback and they’ve actually listened. The noise level is surprisingly manageable considering you’re on a main road – I mean, it’s not dead silent, but it’s city-quiet, not construction-site-at-6am loud. I stayed during a weekend when there was a match on, and while the streets got lively, the hotel itself remained a peaceful retreat. That 8.7 rating feels spot-on – it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but it absolutely delivers on comfort, location, and that increasingly rare quality of making you feel like a welcomed guest rather than just another booking number.

What Our Guests Say
We have stayed a number of times now and the consistency of the care from the staff and quality of the facilities is alw The staff are incredibly helpful and welcoming.
Well located hotel with theatre, eating, drinking places nearby. Proximity to the Princess Theatre.
Breakfast was good ($25pp).
Bottle shop next door.
What could be improved: I felt like I was in the Trivago tv commercial with Jurgen Klopp! The guy that booked in before me payed $109 more than me for one night! Good for me, bad for him.
I booked mine way out with Booking.Com

Exceptional Fantastic location, great facilities.
Wonderful customer service when we urgently needed a bed. Location right near the Mayer hospital. Car park provided. 24/7 check in
What could be improved: Nothing
Hidden gem. Very late check-out and early check-in.
What could be improved: Nothing.
Good value for money Walking distance to convention centre where we attended an event. Southbank restaurant not far away. Good selection of small food outlets right in hotel car park area
What could be improved: Nothing
Exactly what we were expecting from the booking We only stayed one night but for the time we were in the room it was fantastic and met our needs.
What could be improved: The car park did become very busy at one stage and having a one year old having to get to and from the hot Al to the parks out the back was a little difficult but but still do-able
Clean, comfortable, friendly, roomy, close Location to where our function was.
What could be improved: The elevators are due for servicing
