Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Brisbane places, and this Queenslander on Sexton Street is honestly something special. The moment you walk up to this beautifully restored heritage home, you get why it’s scoring a 9.8 – it’s got that perfect balance of old-world charm and modern comfort that’s surprisingly hard to find. The wraparound verandas are the real deal, complete with those classic timber details that make you want to sit with a coffee and just watch the neighborhood wake up.
What really impressed me is how the owners have managed to keep five proper bedrooms without making the place feel cramped or chopped up. The spaces actually flow naturally, which is refreshing after staying in some of those cookie-cutter conversions where they’ve clearly just thrown up walls wherever they could fit them. The kitchen is modern enough that you can actually cook a decent meal (and honestly, with South Bank’s weekend markets just a quick walk away, you’ll want to). I mean, you’re literally ten minutes on foot from the CBD, but the street itself is quiet enough that you won’t have buses rumbling past at 6 AM.
Here’s the thing about this location that most people don’t realize until they’re here – Sexton Street puts you in this sweet spot where you can walk to South Bank Parklands for your morning jog, hit up the cultural precinct when you feel like it, but you’re also close enough to West End that you can grab proper coffee and browse the markets without dealing with tourist prices. The parking situation is actually manageable too, which anyone who’s tried to park near the CBD will appreciate. There’s something really satisfying about coming back after a day exploring the city and settling into those high ceilings with the afternoon breeze coming through – Queensland homes were built for this climate, and you can feel it. The whole place has this lived-in warmth that vacation rentals usually fake but this one gets right naturally.

Fantastic, stylish heritage stay Wonderful, comfortable, clean, well thought out and equipped, excellent instructions. Beautiful heritage features. Very close to everything, up a little hill but not taxing.
What could be improved: Because there were 5 of us staying, it might have been handy to have more than one set of keys, but we just used the lockbox every time we all left

A home away from home It was well located, spacious neat and clean. Having enough beds and space for all the family and three bathrooms was excellent.

Exceptional I really love the cleanliness and coziness of the whole house. It was inviting and everything was well prepared to receive us. The beds were nicely done n the kitchen was super clean. The bathroom and toilets were sparkly clean
I'd say the entirety of the house is excellent.
Our host Ms Sophia was very prompt, helpful and accommodating with our change of plans.
We will love to return someday soon to rent in this property again.
We arrived earlier than planned and the two ladies who were preparing the place were very kind and helpful. Thank you very much.

Exceptional The house was a great size for our group of nine. The facilities were excellent. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Close to Cafes and a bus stop.
Fabulous family getaway! The house gave our family of 5 adults and one 2yo plenty of room to relax. The house was very nicely furnished and exceptionally clean. The location was perfect as a base for spending time at Brisbane's Southbank.
What could be improved: A good idea would be to have some card/board games that could be used in the evenings or on wet days.
A coffee machine would also be welcome (only needs to be an Aldi machine & pods, nothing fancy).
Overall very happy. Clean and tidy and worked well for the travel purpose. Would recommend! Location was great for where the conference attended was held - made it easy to get around. Nice and easy check in and out. Definitely served its purpose.
A quite comfortable roomy home with parking..a wonderful find close to Southbank Beautifully renovated roomy property and in such a handy location. It was wonderful having free parking close to town & aircon in each bedroom. Lovely character, quiet & comfortable. We will stay again. A fabulous find. Thank you.
What could be improved: Nothing. A coffee plunger & fresh coffee would be a nice addition, but there is a coffee shop with fabulous coffee at the end of the street. This really is a great property.
