Dockside Brisbane
You know what struck me first about Dockside Brisbane?
You know what struck me first about Dockside Brisbane? The name actually makes sense – you’re literally looking at the water from most rooms, and I mean proper river views, not some glimpse between buildings. It’s tucked away on Ferry Street in Kangaroo Point, which honestly took me a minute to find the first time (GPS gets a bit confused with the one-way streets around there), but once you’re there, you realize why they picked this spot.
The thing about staying in Kangaroo Point is you’re basically across the river from the CBD, but it feels completely different – way quieter, more residential. I loved that I could walk down to the river path for morning runs without dodging city traffic, and there’s this little ferry that takes you straight into the city center in about ten minutes. Actually pretty clever when you think about it, because you get the city access without the city chaos. The hotel itself has that modern Australian vibe – clean lines, lots of glass, but not trying too hard to be fancy. Staff were genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions. When I mentioned I was looking for decent coffee nearby, the guy at the desk didn’t just point me toward the hotel café (which was fine, but you know how hotel coffee can be) – he actually walked me outside and pointed toward a local place two blocks down that the residents go to.
Room-wise, I had one of their standard kings and honestly, for a 4-star place, it felt more spacious than I expected. The bathroom was properly modern – good water pressure, which you don’t always get in older Brisbane hotels. Only minor gripe was the air conditioning unit, which made this little clicking noise every few minutes… not loud enough to call maintenance, but just enough to notice if you’re a light sleeper. The bed was comfortable though, and I appreciated the blackout curtains since the river gets pretty bright in the morning. What really sold me was stepping out onto the balcony around sunset – you get this view across to the Story Bridge and the city skyline that makes you understand why Brisbane’s grown on so many people. It’s not Sydney Harbor, but it’s got its own thing going on. The whole area comes alive in the evenings with people walking and cycling along the river path, and you can hear the CityCats puttering by every twenty minutes or so. There’s something oddly soothing about it. If you’re planning to stay here, I’d definitely spring for a river view room – the street-side ones are fine, but you’re missing the whole point otherwise.

What Our Guests Say
Super spacious and comfortable apartment in incredible location. We had all the space we wanted, we had balcony with the great city and river view, we had all kitchen and laundry equipment, and the free ferry stop was just a few steps away. When arriving by car the parking lot is just 10$/day. No problem with late check in via interphone after reception hours. Great communication before and during the stay.
