First Impressions
Walking up to Charming heritage house in the heart of the city on Merton Road, you immediately get that “wow, this is different” feeling. This isn’t your typical four-star hotel experience — it’s actually a beautifully restored heritage property that feels more like staying at a sophisticated friend’s place than a commercial accommodation. The character in this building is incredible, with original features that you just don’t see in modern hotels. I mean, you can tell someone really cared about preserving the authentic charm while making it work for today’s travelers.
Location & Neighborhood
Woolloongabba might not be the first area that comes to mind when you think of Brisbane, but honestly, that’s what makes this spot so special. You’re close enough to the city center that getting around is easy, but you’re in this lovely residential pocket that feels genuinely local. The Gabba cricket ground is practically next door — which is either fantastic or potentially noisy depending on the season and your feelings about cricket. There’s something really appealing about being able to walk to proper neighborhood cafes and then catch a quick bus or Uber into the CBD when you want the city buzz.
The Heritage Experience
What really sets this place apart is how they’ve managed to keep the soul of the original house while making it completely functional for modern stays. The room I stayed in had these gorgeous high ceilings and period details that you just can’t fake. You know what I loved? The way they’ve furnished it — it’s not trying too hard to be boutique-y, but everything feels thoughtful and well-chosen. The whole property has this relaxed, lived-in elegance that makes you want to settle in for longer than you planned.
Practical Comforts
Beyond the obvious charm factor, this place actually works really well for a comfortable stay. The beds are properly comfortable (not just pretty), and there’s decent storage space — something heritage properties don’t always get right. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the modern amenities were integrated without disrupting the character of the building. The Wi-Fi is solid, which matters when you’re trying to plan your Brisbane adventures or catch up on work.
Why Guests Love It
There’s a reason couples rate this place so highly — it has that intimate, special-occasion feel without being overly formal or stuffy. It’s the kind of place where you can imagine having a really good weekend, whether you’re celebrating something or just want to feel like you’re somewhere unique. The combination of heritage character, solid location, and that personal touch makes it stand out in a city where a lot of accommodations can feel pretty generic. Plus, with a 9.2 rating, you know other guests are having consistently good experiences here too.

Heritage vintage vibe
Really charming house in a decent neighbourhood not too far away from the CBD. The home had lots of space, a nice big dining room table, great outdoor space, and a nice bathroom + kitchen.
Absolutely charming house, photos on bookings don't do it justice. Perfect for a few days get away in a fantastic location. Host was quick to respond to questions and very helpful arranging parking and check in and out process. The outside deck was so lovely.
Home had everything needed for a comfortable stay.
Thank you Jenny.
