Amora Hotel Brisbane
Amora Hotel Brisbane
Look, I've stayed at a lot of hotels in Brisbane, and the Amora on Creek Street honestly surprised me – in the best way possible.
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in Brisbane, and the Amora on Creek Street honestly surprised me – in the best way possible. Walking in, you get this immediate sense that someone actually thought about design here, not just threw together another corporate lobby. The space feels substantial without being intimidating, you know? And the staff at check-in seemed genuinely happy to see me, which is rarer than it should be these days.
What really won me over was the location – I mean, Spring Hill might sound like it’s out of the way if you don’t know Brisbane, but it’s actually this perfect sweet spot. You’re literally a five-minute walk down to the CBD, but you’re not dealing with all the Queen Street Mall chaos right outside your window. The hotel sits on this slight rise (hence Spring Hill, obviously), so a lot of the rooms have these sweeping views over the city or out toward the Story Bridge. I stayed on the 12th floor and honestly spent way too much time just staring out at the river winding through the city – especially at sunset when everything goes golden.
The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a proper five-star place, but there are these little touches that show someone was paying attention. The shower pressure is fantastic (trust me, this matters more than fancy toiletries), and the beds are firm without being like sleeping on concrete. What I really appreciated was the blackout curtains actually work – I’m someone who wakes up at the first hint of light, so this was huge for me. The air conditioning runs quietly too, which matters when you’re trying to sleep in summer. Parking is valet only, which some people complain about, but honestly the valets are quick and it beats circling Spring Hill looking for a spot – that area gets pretty packed during the day. The pool area up top is smaller than some of the resort-style hotels, but it’s got that city view thing going for it, and it’s rarely crowded. I’d usually have it mostly to myself in the mornings.
If you’re here for work, the location is gold – you can walk to basically anywhere in the CBD, and if you need to get to South Bank or the airport, you’re well positioned. For tourists, you’re close enough to everything but far enough away that you feel like you’re experiencing Brisbane rather than just staying in tourist central. The restaurant downstairs is solid without being spectacular, though I’d recommend heading down to Eagle Street Pier for dinner – it’s a pleasant walk and the food scene there is much better. Overall, it’s one of those places where everything just works the way it should, and after dealing with hotels where nothing quite clicks, that’s actually pretty refreshing.
