Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Brisbane, but this apartment on Bank Street really surprised me. Walking up to the building, you’d never guess how solid the whole setup is – it’s one of those unassuming spots that just works. The secure parking thing isn’t just marketing fluff either; I mean, you actually get a proper spot underground where you’re not worrying about your car all night. In a city where parking can cost you $30+ a day, that alone is worth talking about.

What really got me was how they’ve nailed the location without being right in the chaos. You’re literally a five-minute walk to some of Brisbane’s best eating – and I’m talking about the places locals actually go, not tourist traps. There’s this Vietnamese joint around the corner that does pho until late, and honestly, after a long day at the Convention Centre (which is basically next door), that’s exactly what you want. Speaking of the Convention Centre, you can see it from some of the windows, which sounds boring but is actually pretty handy when you’re trying to time your morning walk over. The whole South Bank area is right there too, so you’ve got the weekend markets, the artificial beach if you’re into that sort of thing, and those riverside paths that are perfect for early morning runs before the Brisbane heat kicks in.

The apartment itself feels like someone actually lives there – not that sterile hotel room vibe where everything’s been focus-grouped to death. The kitchen’s got proper equipment (they have a decent coffee setup, thank god), and the bed’s comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the mattress all night. You know what I really appreciated? The air conditioning doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing, which seems like a small thing until you’re trying to sleep through a Brisbane summer. The only minor thing is that the street can get a bit lively on weekend nights – West End’s got that young, artsy crowd – but honestly, it dies down by midnight and the windows are decent quality. I’d rather have some life in the neighborhood than be stuck in some soulless business district anyway. If you’re coming to Brisbane for work or you want to be close to the action without paying South Bank hotel prices, this place just makes sense. Plus, having your own space to spread out and actually cook something beats room service every time.
