Tequila Sunrise Podstel Brisbane
Tequila Sunrise Podstel Brisbane
You know what caught me off guard about Tequila Sunrise Podstel?
You know what caught me off guard about Tequila Sunrise Podstel? The name makes it sound like some party hostel where you’ll be dodging drunk backpackers at 3am, but honestly, it’s way more sophisticated than that. Yeah, it’s got the fun branding, but when you walk into this place on George Street, you realize they’ve actually nailed that sweet spot between social and civilized. The lobby has this warm, almost speakeasy vibe with wooden accents and mood lighting that doesn’t scream “budget accommodation” at all.
The location is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without paying CBD hotel prices. I mean, you’re literally on George Street β you can stumble to Queen Street Mall in about three minutes, and Roma Street Station is close enough that you don’t need to stress about catching early trains to the Gold Coast or wherever. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night despite being right in the city center. The George Street traffic dies down after about 10pm, and the building itself seems pretty well soundproofed. The pods themselves are clever β they’re not just bunk beds with curtains, but actual enclosed spaces with their own power outlets and reading lights. Sure, you’re sharing a bathroom, but they’re kept spotless and there are plenty of them, so I never had to wait around.
The common areas are where this place really shines though. The rooftop terrace (which honestly gives you better Brisbane River glimpses than some expensive hotels) becomes this perfect spot for evening drinks, and the communal kitchen is big enough that you don’t feel like you’re fighting for fridge space. I loved how they’ve set up different zones β there’s a quiet area if you want to work on your laptop, and a more social space with games and a big TV. The staff seem to actually care about the place too, which you don’t always get with hostels. They’ll give you proper local recommendations instead of just pointing you toward the obvious tourist stuff. One guy told me about this amazing Vietnamese place on Hardgrave Road that I never would have found otherwise. The 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here β it’s not trying to be luxury, but everything they do, they do well. If you’re looking for that social hostel experience but with grown-up touches and actual comfort, this is your spot.

What Our Guests Say
Superb Everything was perfect - the location, the facilities, the bed, all brand new. The staff was very helpful. Also the breakfast and dinner werea big plus. Would definitely stay there again!
Exceptional In CBD
What could be improved: Maybe give a quick show of where things are e.g. hot water & label the salt jar π
Very good What could be improved: In the big sleeping hall there was not the best ventilation. On person was very ill and about two days later about 30 people got very ill as well.
Superb Friendly, helpful staff; spacious shower stalls with plenty of hooks and a bench to keep things on; huge, under bed lockers; everything was clean and well maintained; large, well equipped kitchen
What could be improved: It was a little hot the second night i was there; there was a mad rush for food at breakfast and there were too many people when dinner was served making it difficult to find a place to sit
Exceptional Extraordinary service and ratio of how much you pay and what you get. First of all - breakfast and dinner?! Such amazing thing to do for guests. Super clean and looked after facilities, soap/shampoo at showers, privacy at bed, helpful staff. We were happy that we chose this hostel
What could be improved: We couldn't reach the hostel, we tried to call for 4 days in a row but no answer. Maybe wrong number?
Very good I like the atmosphere in the common area specifically the kitchen. It feels like I'm at home.
It started with a random booking because it is very near at Roma street bus station and I need to catch an early morning bus ride. To be honest I didn't expect much but, I totally enjoyed my stay. So surprised that there's a free dinner and breakfast, what a value for money. I will definitely come back ππ―
What could be improved: I didn't know that I need to bring my own lock. Will keep that in mind when I come back.
A must choice when visiting Brissy. The hostel is clean and new. Located in the heart of Brisbane, walking distance to CBD and less than 5 mins walk to Roma St Train Station Staff are helpful and amazing. Free breakfast if you wake up early in the morning. Privacy guaranteed in the capsule, shampoo, conditioner and shower gels provided as well as hair dryer. No hostels in Straya beat Tequila Brissy! Affordable price!!!
What could be improved: Nothing
Exceptional The place seems very friendly and open to connections between backpackers
Also the food menu!!
What could be improved: -
New Establishment (only 2 days old) Elena, was very welcoming and busy cleaning and Juan from Columbia was pleasant, as well.
What could be improved: How the green exit button isn't easily visible and newly acquired goods often buried the visual visibility of this button.
Exceptional Brand new hostel with good breakfast, super cool staff, comfortable beds and excellent location.
