You know what caught me off guard about this place? The moment I walked into this apartment on Geelong Street, it actually felt like someone’s home – not one of those sterile Airbnb setups where everything’s beige and soulless. The owner clearly put thought into making this feel lived-in and comfortable, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two.

The location is pretty sweet if you know Brisbane at all. Being this close to the Gabba means you’re walking distance to cricket matches or AFL games (the atmosphere on game days is incredible, though fair warning – it gets busy), but more importantly, you’re in that perfect spot where you can actually walk to Woolloongabba for groceries and decent coffee without needing to drive everywhere. The free parking is clutch because let’s be real, parking in Brisbane can be a nightmare and expensive as hell. I mean, having three bedrooms gives you options too – whether you’re traveling with family, splitting costs with friends, or just want to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase.

What I really appreciated were the little things that show someone actually stays here and knows what travelers need. The WiFi is solid – I was working remotely part of my stay and never had issues with video calls or uploading files. The kitchen is properly stocked (not just a couple of sad plates and a broken can opener like some places), and there’s actually decent cookware if you want to grab groceries from the nearby shops instead of eating out every meal. The bedrooms are quiet enough that you’re not hearing every car that drives down Stanley Street, which can be pretty busy during rush hour. One thing though – the apartment’s on the third floor and I didn’t notice an elevator mentioned, so just keep that in mind if you’re hauling heavy luggage or have mobility concerns.

The whole Woolloongabba area has grown on me over the years. It’s got that lived-in Brisbane feel without being too touristy, and you’re close enough to South Bank and the city center that you can easily explore but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the constant noise and crowds. Plus, being near the Gabba means you’re connected to decent public transport if you want to venture further out – the buses run regularly and you can get to the city or even out to the suburbs pretty easily. For a 4-star rating with an 8 out of 10 from other guests, it delivers on being comfortable and functional without trying too hard to be fancy. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want.
