The bedrooms are properly separated, so if you’re traveling with friends or family, you’re not all breathing down each other’s necks. You’re walking distance to Chinatown for incredible dumplings, the train station’s right there when you need to get to the airport, and James Street’s fancy shopping and cafes are basically next door. It’s like being in the thick of things but having this quiet retreat to come back to.

The 8.2 rating makes sense to me. It’s not trying to be the Ritz – it’s a solid 4-star experience that gets the important stuff right. The shower pressure’s decent, the air conditioning works properly (crucial in Brisbane summers), and the wifi didn’t drop out on me once. I had a small issue with the keycard on check-in, but the Peppers staff sorted it out quickly enough. The building itself has that modern apartment feel, which I personally prefer to traditional hotel corridors.
