Southbank Garden Apt 2Bed, 2Bath

Look, I'll be honest – when I first pulled up to 39 Edmondstone Street, I wasn't expecting much from what's essentially an apartment rental masquerading as a hotel.

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to 39 Edmondstone Street, I wasn’t expecting much from what’s essentially an apartment rental masquerading as a hotel. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The Southbank Garden Apt sits right in the heart of South Brisbane, and I mean literally a stone’s throw from the Cultural Centre precinct. You can hear the faint hum of the city across the river, but it’s not that jarring traffic noise that keeps you up – more like a gentle urban lullaby, if that makes sense.

The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home rather than a sterile hotel room, which honestly was refreshing after staying in cookie-cutter places. Two proper bedrooms, two full bathrooms – not those cramped spaces where you’re bumping elbows with the sink every time you turn around. The kitchen’s got everything you’d actually need if you decide to skip the restaurant scene for a night (though honestly, with West End just across the bridge, why would you?). What really got me was the little garden view from the living room – nothing fancy, but there’s something nice about having a bit of greenery to look at instead of concrete walls. The whole place has this lived-in comfort that you just don’t get at chain hotels.

Here’s the thing about the location that most people don’t realize until they’re actually here – you’re walking distance to literally everything that matters in Brisbane. The South Bank Parklands are basically your backyard, and I’m talking about a five-minute stroll to the lagoon and all those weekend markets. But the real win is how connected you are without being in the thick of the tourist chaos. The apartment’s tucked away on a quiet residential street, so you get proper sleep, but jump on the Goodwill Bridge and you’re in the CBD in fifteen minutes on foot. I actually found myself using the balcony more than I expected – perfect spot for morning coffee while watching the early commuters heading across the river. The only minor gripe I had was the parking situation (street parking can be a bit of a hunt on weekends), but honestly, with the train station so close and everything walkable, you might not even need a car. For what you’re paying and that 7.9 rating, it’s solid value – feels more like staying at a friend’s place who happens to live in one of Brisbane’s best neighborhoods.

Convenient accommodation, roomy and light. Great location, walking distance to shops, cafes and restaurants. The outdoor area was huge with a lovely hammock.

What could be improved: The queen bed in the main bedroom was very uncomfortable. The outdoor area could do with a clean.

Really enjoyed it- the location was perfect and having a carpark wonderful. Great location, lounge room, layout and patio

What could be improved: Main bed- either the frame or mattress is broken- rollover or get up in the night and you would wake your partner.
Window ledge near the shower had a dead dragonfly caught in a web

Next to a construction site Location and view was great

What could be improved: We were never told that the building right next to us was under full construction and that they start work on the power tools every morning at 6.20am! Right outside our bedroom window. Also we were not given the apartment we originally booked which was on the ground floor with a bigger balcony. Was told booking.com mucked it up and booked it to someone else.

Fabulous Apartment close to South Bank. This is a very well equipped and spacious apartment less than 1km from South Bank, so easy to access QPAC, museums etc. Kitchen is very well equipped and includes a small coffee machine. Condiments were also provided. Beds are comfy and the main ensuite is a generous size. Car park fits a 4WD. Patio has a BBQ and hammock as well.

What could be improved: Not a criticism, but may help other users...when you use the lock box, put in code and then press the unlock sign. When opening front door to the apartments, you need someone right there to open it once it is unlocked as it relocks quickly.
