So I stumbled across this place on Adelaide Street purely by accident – was walking from Central Station toward the river and there it was, this unassuming building that honestly doesn't look like much from the outside.
So I stumbled across this place on Adelaide Street purely by accident – was walking from Central Station toward the river and there it was, this unassuming building that honestly doesn’t look like much from the outside. But here’s the thing about Riverfront Panorama (and yeah, I know the name’s a bit much): the view actually lives up to the hype. Got one of those two king bed rooms on the upper floors, and I mean, you’re basically staring straight across the Brisbane River toward South Bank. When they say “best fireworks view,” they’re not kidding around – during Riverfire season, you’ve got front row seats without fighting the crowds down at the Botanic Gardens.
The room itself is pretty solid for what you’re paying. Those king beds are actually comfortable, not the rock-hard mattresses you sometimes get in these CBD spots. Air con works well too, which matters more than you’d think in Brisbane humidity. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night – Adelaide Street can get a bit busy during the day with all the office workers, but once evening hits, it’s surprisingly peaceful. You’re close enough to Queen Street Mall that you can walk there in about five minutes, but far enough away that you don’t get the weekend drunk crowds stumbling around at 2am. The building’s got that slightly worn-in feel that comes with being established, but everything actually works properly – hot water pressure’s decent, wifi doesn’t drop out every ten minutes, that sort of thing.
Location-wise, you’re in this sweet spot where you can walk to pretty much everything without needing to figure out the bus routes. Eagle Street Pier is literally a few blocks down if you want decent restaurants, and the CityCat terminal at Eagle Street makes getting around the river stupid easy. I actually ended up using that way more than I expected – you can hop on and be at West End or New Farm in no time. The only minor annoyance is parking if you’ve got a car; there’s no hotel parking, so you’re looking at the public garages nearby, which aren’t exactly cheap. But honestly, once you’re there, you probably won’t need the car much anyway. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that overly chatty front desk stuff, just got me sorted and up to the room quickly. For an 8.7 rating, it definitely delivers on being a solid, no-nonsense place to stay without any major surprises. You’re paying for that river view and the location, and you actually get both without feeling ripped off.
