Oasis Retreat on Level 71 in Skytower
Okay, so I've stayed at a lot of places in Brisbane, but this one actually caught me off guard.
Okay, so I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Brisbane, but this one actually caught me off guard. The Oasis Retreat sits on the 71st floor of Skytower right on Margaret Street, and honestly? The elevator ride up is almost worth the stay itself – you get this gradual reveal of the city sprawling out below you that’s pretty spectacular. I mean, most hotels talk about views, but when you’re literally above the clouds some mornings, it hits different.
What really got me was how quiet it is up there. You’d think being smack in the CBD would mean constant noise, but at that height, the city buzz just… disappears. I actually slept better than I have in months, which is saying something because I’m usually that person checking reviews for noise complaints. The rooms have this sort of understated luxury thing going on – not flashy, just really well thought out. The bathroom alone is bigger than some entire hotel rooms I’ve crashed in, and they’ve got this rainfall shower that honestly made me late for a meeting because I didn’t want to get out. The beds are proper comfortable too, none of that rock-hard nonsense you sometimes get in business hotels.
Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I booked: the location is actually perfect if you need to get around the city. You’re a two-minute walk from the Queen Street Mall, and King George Square is right there if you need to catch a train. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare on Margaret Street during weekday rush hours, but the hotel has valet service that’s worth every penny – they know all the tricks for getting in and out without sitting in traffic for twenty minutes. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful, not just going through the motions. They actually asked what I was in town for and gave me specific restaurant recommendations based on that, which was a nice touch. One thing though – if you’re planning to visit during conference season (basically March through May), book way ahead because this place fills up fast with the business crowd, and for good reason. The 9.5 rating isn’t just people being generous; they’ve really figured out how to make a four-star place feel like it’s punching above its weight. You know what sealed it for me? I extended my stay by two nights, and I never do that.

What Our Guests Say
Very good Apartment was in a great location in the city. Walkable distance to everything. Close to botanic gardens for kids etc. Incredible view. Great to have a private car park. Comfy bed.
What could be improved: Smaller than we expected - 2nd bedroom was just an extension of the lounge which made it a little tricky when we put our toddler to bed. We were unable to watch tv or really talk.
Exceptional Absolutely amazing view!! Very clean apartment and the beds were so comfortable.
Loved the location as it was central to everything we wanted to do.
Great central location and great views. Great location and amazing view. Easy to collect keys and park. Easy walk to ferries, took a ride at night and it looked amazing all lit up. Easy walk across to the Southbank Parklands. Easy walk to Queen St for breakfast and had delicious Japanese for dinner. Exceptional hosts who made our stay perfect. Lovely neat appartment with everything you need. Hope to book again one day.
Exceptional Great location and view was amazing. Would stay again.
We booked this last minute as our flight was cancelled so had no expectations but this was great! The view and that it has a kitchen and also the steam room in the pool area.
Great place, great hosts who were more than happy to help me when I reached out. Nice layout, neat and clean
Luxury A gorgeous apartment with amazing views over the city, river and beyond. Within easy walking distance of both CBD and river precinct. We chose to eat in and enjoy the luxury of our apartment and the views, but close to many eating options. Small supermarket at bottom of building for essentials. Great heated pool with views
