Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the Nightcap at Manly Hotel on Cambridge Parade, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in unpretentious packages, and this spot actually delivers way more than you’d think for the price point.
The thing about this hotel is that it gets the fundamentals right without trying to be something it’s not. The rooms are clean and comfortable (I mean, really comfortable – not that “hotel comfortable” where you’re counting down to checkout). What really won me over though was how the staff seemed to actually know Brisbane. When I asked about getting to South Bank without dealing with the city traffic nightmare, the guy at the front desk didn’t just point me toward a taxi – he walked me through the bus routes and mentioned which stops to avoid during rush hour. That’s the kind of local intel you can’t get from a chain hotel handbook. The location on Cambridge Parade is honestly pretty clever if you think about it. You’re far enough from the CBD chaos that you can actually sleep through the night (trust me, street noise is a real issue in some Brisbane hotels), but close enough that you’re not spending half your day commuting. There’s this great little coffee spot just two blocks down that opens at 6 AM – perfect if you’re one of those early risers who needs decent caffeine before facing the world. And here’s something I didn’t expect: the parking situation is actually manageable. I know that sounds boring, but if you’ve ever tried to park in Brisbane’s inner suburbs, you’ll appreciate not having to circle blocks or pay ridiculous daily rates.
The rooms themselves have this sort of… I don’t know, unpretentious charm? They’re not trying to wow you with fancy fixtures or trendy décor, but everything works properly (the shower pressure is surprisingly good), and there’s enough space to actually unpack your stuff without living out of a suitcase. The beds are legitimately comfortable – I’m talking about waking up without that hotel back-ache that usually comes from mattresses that are either too soft or feel like concrete slabs. What really struck me was the attention to practical details. Good reading lights, enough power outlets that you’re not unplugging the alarm clock to charge your phone, and – this might sound weird – but the curtains actually block out light properly. Small things, but they add up to a much better stay than you’d expect from the price range. The 8.4 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there a few days. It’s not perfect – the breakfast is pretty basic, and the lobby could use some updating – but it delivers on what matters most: clean, comfortable rooms, helpful staff, and a location that actually makes sense for exploring Brisbane without breaking the bank.

What Our Guests Say
massive really clean staff were lovely good location
Staff were super fantastic, friendly and caring. We had an issue with our room as the previous tennat had hidden crabs in the jug and once the staff found out what happened they were appalled and replaced the jug as well as being amazing in helping us out <3 Also, newly renovated, rooms have a BATH TUB and the sound proofing in the rooms was great!!
Nice new rooms to go with al the great restaurant s & bars
Breakfast was adequate. Location was good but I could not walk to the venue close by due to the rain. It wasn’t the Hotel’s fault.
Great location right in the middle of the Manly village. IGA right across the road and lots of food choices nearby. Nice quiet room.
Privacy and quite environment.
Booked for an immediate check-in. All the staff were friendly, helpful and perky. Room was bigger than we expected and very clean. Bathroom products/brand were nice.
Room well thought out, good size bathroom, nicely decorated
Clean, friendly staff, great sandcrab & bug lasagna at the hotel. Close to all cafes & the Bay.
Newly renovated, everything is fresh and clean. Awesome new and quiet aircon. Great location close to everything in Manly.
