Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of Brisbane hotels, and honestly? This place on Margaret Street surprised me. You know how some hotels try to cram everything into their name and it sounds ridiculous? Well, “Luxe City Escape at QWR Pool Casino River Views” definitely falls into that category, but – and here’s the thing – they actually deliver on most of those promises.
The location is what really got me. Eight Margaret Street puts you right in the thick of things without the chaos of Queen Street Mall crowds. You’re literally a two-minute walk to the Treasury Casino if that’s your thing, and the river views aren’t just marketing speak. I mean, depending on your room, you’ll actually see the Brisbane River winding past, especially nice in the early morning when the CityCats start their runs and the city’s waking up. The pool area – which honestly I wasn’t expecting much from in a CBD hotel – is actually pretty decent. Not huge, but it’s on a higher floor so you get that skyline thing happening while you’re lounging around.
What I really appreciated was the quieter vibe despite being so central. Margaret Street doesn’t get the foot traffic that the main drags do, so you can actually open your windows at night without hearing drunk people stumbling around (well, mostly). The rooms themselves feel properly luxurious without being stuffy – good linens, decent shower pressure, and the air conditioning actually works efficiently, which you’ll definitely need during Brisbane summers. Check-in was smooth, parking is available but pricey (what’s new in the CBD?), and the staff seemed to actually know the area when I asked about breakfast spots nearby.
Here’s what sealed it for me though – you’re close enough to walk to South Bank in about ten minutes, the Botanic Gardens are right there, and if you want to escape the city feel without leaving the city, you can stroll down to the river boardwalk and pretend you’re somewhere tropical. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the elevators are fast and quiet, which matters more than you’d think when you’re coming and going multiple times a day. The whole experience felt less like staying in a typical business hotel and more like having a really nice apartment in the city for a few days. Sure, the name is a mouthful and you’ll probably just call it “that hotel on Margaret Street” like I do, but sometimes the places with the awkward names are the ones that actually focus on getting the important stuff right.

What Our Guests Say
Great apartment with incredible views Great apartment with incredible views over the city. The apartment was very neat, clean and stylish. Very helpful and friendly host. Great size kitchen and bathroom. The perfect city stay for a couple visiting Brisbane. Would definitely stay again!
What could be improved: No parking available at the property which we found a little inconvenient, there’s public parking nearby and we were given lots of recommendations from the host which was very helpful however was very expensive. We also found the couch wasn’t very comfortable.
