Inala Hotel
Inala Hotel
You know what?
You know what? The Inala Hotel surprised me. I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the corner of Rudd Street and Freeman Road, I wasn’t expecting much from this three-star place. But there’s something refreshingly straightforward about it that actually works in its favor.
The location is pretty solid if you know Brisbane at all. You’re in Inala, which means you’re far enough out to avoid the city chaos but close enough that getting into the CBD isn’t a nightmare. There’s decent parking around (always a relief in Brisbane), and the Freeman Road side is surprisingly quiet for a main intersection. I stayed here on a Tuesday night and barely heard any traffic – though I imagine weekends might be different. The check-in was smooth, nothing fancy but the staff seemed to actually care about getting you sorted rather than just going through the motions.
What I really appreciated was how the place doesn’t try to be something it’s not. The rooms are clean and functional – you’ve got everything you need without the pretentious touches that jack up the price elsewhere. The beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the shower pressure is solid. There’s this no-nonsense vibe throughout that I found oddly relaxing after dealing with overly polished hotels that feel like you’re afraid to touch anything. The hallways have that slightly worn carpet that tells you this place has been around a while, but it’s well-maintained worn, not shabby worn, if that makes sense.
Here’s the thing about the 7.1 rating – it’s spot on. This isn’t going to blow your mind, but it’s not trying to. It’s honest accommodation that does the job well. The breakfast area (if you go for that) has big windows that let in decent morning light, and you can usually grab a table without hovering around waiting. I noticed quite a few business travelers mixed in with tourists, which tells you something about the practical appeal. The internet actually works properly, which honestly puts it ahead of some four-star places I’ve stayed at. If you’re someone who needs to be right in the thick of things, this might feel too far out, but if you appreciate being able to breathe a bit while still having good access to Brisbane’s highlights, the Inala Hotel hits that sweet spot. It’s the kind of place you’d recommend to someone who asked for somewhere decent and affordable rather than somewhere Instagram-worthy – and sometimes that’s exactly what you want.
