Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Eve Apartment on Merivale Street, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The building itself is pretty standard Brisbane apartment block stuff, but here’s what caught me off guard: there’s actually proper parking included, which if you’ve ever tried to park in South Bank, you know is basically like winning the lottery. The host, Sarah, was waiting for me with keys in hand and this genuinely warm smile that made me think “okay, this is going to be different from those soulless hotel chains.”
What really sold me on this place wasn’t the apartment itself (though honestly, it’s perfectly decent – clean, functional, everything works), but the location is just… well, it’s sort of perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Brisbane rather than just visiting it. You’re literally a five-minute walk to the Cultural Centre busway stop, which means you can get anywhere in the city without dealing with parking nightmares. But here’s the thing locals know – if you walk the other direction toward the river, there’s this little coffee spot called Goldsmith that does the best flat whites in the area, and hardly any tourists know about it because it’s tucked away from the main South Bank Parklands chaos.
The apartment itself feels lived-in in the best way possible – there’s actual coffee in the cupboard (not those terrible instant packets), the shower has decent water pressure, and the bed is surprisingly comfortable. I mean, the décor isn’t going to win any design awards, but everything’s thoughtfully put together. Sarah left these little notes around the place with genuine local tips, not the usual “visit our famous attractions” nonsense. She told me about the Saturday markets at Davies Park (just across the river in West End) and mentioned that Thursday evenings get a bit noisy because of the nearby pubs – which actually, I found kind of charming. The noise dies down by 11 PM anyway.
You know what really impressed me though? The little things that show someone actually cares about this place. Fresh towels that don’t smell like industrial detergent, a proper coffee machine (not just a kettle), and honestly, the Wi-Fi was better than my own apartment back home. Plus, being privately hosted means when I had a question about the temperamental air conditioning remote, I could actually text Sarah and get a real answer instead of calling some call center. The whole experience felt less like staying in accommodation and more like borrowing a friend’s place – if that friend happened to have excellent taste in neighborhoods and knew all the good local spots.

What Our Guests Say
Exceptional
Exceptional
Very good It was great that it was pet friendly but I think we were the last as previous guests had done the wrong thing and left a mess. 😡
What could be improved: It could have had an information sheet about using the rubbish shuts and where the pool and facilities were located.
Great for short stay Great location and clean and love the labels to show where everything is. Very nice sheets and towels.
What could be improved: It’s inner facing though was not important for one night
Unique Good value for money, and excellent location. Includes a parking space.
What could be improved: There was no milk in the fridge. Check in process is complicated, esp because the area has one way streets and construction taking place. Also the instructions on how to access the parking building could be improved, as Google maps gets confused, and the street number is hidden when driving (one way steet). The natural light to the apartment is limited because a new high rise has been built next door.
Great apartment in a great location. What could be improved: Key collection not great
Good Good location, great gym and pool.
Friendly host.
Comfy bed.
What could be improved: The AC is noisy so bring your earplugs.
