Look, I've stayed in a lot of places around Brisbane, but this Evandale spot on Chatsworth Road honestly caught me off guard.
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Brisbane, but this Evandale spot on Chatsworth Road honestly caught me off guard. You know how sometimes you book a place based on photos and cross your fingers? Well, this 1920s home actually delivers – and then some. The moment you walk up, you get hit with this perfect blend of old-world charm and modern comfort that doesn’t feel forced or fake. The heritage details are still there (original hardwood floors that creak just right, those gorgeous high ceilings), but someone clearly knew what they were doing with the renovation.
The city views are legitimately stunning – I mean, you’re positioned perfectly to catch Brisbane’s skyline without dealing with all the CBD chaos. Chatsworth Road itself is pretty quiet, which honestly surprised me given how close you are to everything. I could actually sleep with the windows open, something I rarely risk in the city. The kitchen’s been completely modernized (thank god), and I spent way too much time just making coffee and staring out at the view. What really got me though was how they managed to keep the home’s character while making it feel like a proper retreat. The bathrooms are gorgeous – definitely not your typical heritage home situation where you’re dealing with tiny spaces and weird plumbing.
Here’s the thing that really matters: this place feels like Brisbane without the tourist trap nonsense. You’re close enough to walk into the city when you want the energy, but far enough out that you feel like you’re staying somewhere special rather than just another hotel room. The whole area has this lived-in vibe – there’s a great little café about five minutes down the road that locals actually use, and you can easily get to South Bank or the Story Bridge without the hassle of staying right in the thick of things. Parking was straightforward too, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Brisbane’s CBD will appreciate. I actually extended my stay by a night because, honestly, I wasn’t ready to leave. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself planning your next Brisbane trip before you’ve even checked out.
