Best of Brissie – Chic Resort-style CBD Living
You know what surprised me most about Best of Brissie?
You know what surprised me most about Best of Brissie? It actually feels like a resort despite being smack in the middle of Brisbane’s CBD – and I mean that in the best way possible. When I first walked in, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a 4-star place with a 7.5 rating, but there’s something about the way they’ve designed this space that makes you forget you’re surrounded by office buildings and the constant hum of Queen Street traffic.
The whole “chic resort-style” thing isn’t just marketing fluff – they’ve really nailed that laid-back Queensland vibe indoors. The common areas have these amazing floor-to-ceiling windows that flood everything with natural light, and I spent way too much time just people-watching from the lounge area. You can actually see the Brisbane River from some of the upper floors, which is a nice bonus when you’re trying to get your bearings in the city. The rooms themselves are pretty spacious for CBD standards – I mean, let’s be honest, most city hotels pack you in like sardines, but here you can actually open a suitcase without doing yoga moves around the bed. The décor leans modern without being cold, lots of warm timber touches that remind you you’re in Australia, not some generic international chain.
What really sold me on the place was how easy it made exploring Brisbane. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Queen Street Mall, and if you’re into the nightlife scene, Fortitude Valley is just a quick cab ride away. I loved that I could grab coffee at one of those great little cafés on Adelaide Street in the morning, then be at South Bank for lunch without breaking a sweat. The staff seemed to get this too – they weren’t pushy with recommendations, but when I asked about getting to the Gold Coast for a day trip, they knew exactly which train to point me toward. Honestly, the only thing that bugged me was the elevator situation during peak hours – you know how it is when business travelers are all trying to get out at the same time in the morning. But that’s pretty much par for the course in any CBD hotel. The parking situation is decent if you’re driving, though you’ll pay city prices for it. All in all, it’s one of those places that just works – not flashy enough to blow your mind, but solid enough that you’d definitely stay again when you need to be in Brisbane’s heart without feeling like you’re sleeping in a concrete box.
