Artists Residence
You know what struck me first about Artists Residence?
You know what struck me first about Artists Residence? It’s actually tucked away on Junction Road in a way that feels intentional β like they wanted to create this little creative sanctuary without all the tourist chaos you get closer to the city center. I mean, Clayfield isn’t exactly where most visitors think to look, but honestly, that’s part of the charm. You’re about fifteen minutes from the CBD but it feels worlds away, and there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that locals actually frequent too.
The whole place has this effortless artistic vibe that doesn’t feel forced or Instagram-manufactured. Walking through, you’ll notice original artwork scattered throughout β not the generic hotel prints we’ve all seen a thousand times, but pieces that actually make you pause and look twice. The rooms have this interesting mix of vintage furniture and modern touches that somehow works perfectly together. I particularly loved the little details, like how they’ve incorporated local Brisbane artists’ work into the design, and the way natural light filters through these gorgeous old windows. The beds are seriously comfortable too (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathrooms have that perfect balance of character and functionality β you know, where you can actually get ready without bumping into everything.
What really sets this place apart though is how the staff genuinely seem to love what they’re doing. Check-in was smooth and friendly, and they actually gave me useful local recommendations instead of just handing over a generic tourist brochure. They pointed me toward this fantastic coffee spot just a few blocks away that I never would have found otherwise. The whole Junction Road area has been quietly developing this great little food and cafΓ© scene, and staying here puts you right in the middle of it without the crowds. Parking was surprisingly easy too β something you definitely can’t take for granted in Brisbane. The only minor thing I’d mention is that weekend evenings can get a bit lively since there are some popular bars within walking distance, but honestly, the energy is more charming than disruptive. For a 4-star place, it punches well above its weight, and that 9 rating makes total sense once you’ve experienced the combination of genuine hospitality, thoughtful design, and that perfect sweet spot location. If you’re the type who prefers character over cookie-cutter luxury, this is absolutely your spot.

What Our Guests Say
House was roomy & characterful - six double bedrooms was brilliant! Nice touches like gorgeous towels & dramatic interior decor. Plenty of crockery, glasses, cutlery. Stunning master bedroom & ensuite. Three bathrooms & four toilets made it work well for a large family group.
Location was super-convenient with shops & food spots very close by. Short drive to city (or catch the train from across the road). Train station is a junction so four major lines intersect. This was very handy when two family members left by train to Sunshine Coast and two went to the GC for a few days. And the absolutely fabulous built-in Miele coffee machine was a favorite of all. The pool was great too π. Thank so so much & we would stay again.
Absolutely loved the way the house fits so many people so comfortably! Such a great location and amazing amenities
Dealing with them was great. Very proactive and made sure we were sorted. Great place and location. Be an amazing place when the renovations have finished. Thank you for having us:)
Location was on point.
The house was very functional and had everything we needed for our weeekend. The rooms were cosy and the pool and yard were top notch.
The Artists Residence was just what we needed accommodate our large family for a special weekend.
Luxury bed, a fabulous pool and a great coffee machine were the highlights of our stay.
The house's location is awesome, so handy to the train station & local restaurants.
great location if you need to be close to the city and airport. the host was very responsive and accommodating. It's virtual 1 minute walk to the train that either takes you to the airport or to Brisbane city.
I like that there is a lot of potential and that some of the works that had been done were done well, a lot had been done very poorly.
Magnifique maison historique, avec une dΓ©coration exceptionnelle ! L ambiance est unique, les salles de bain trΓ¨s belles, la cuisine parfaitement Γ©quipΓ©e, la piscine chauffΓ©eβ¦
