But stepping into this apartment actually caught me off guard in the best way. The theming isn’t over-the-top safari nonsense (thank god), but rather these thoughtful touches that somehow make you feel like you’re somewhere exotic despite being smack in the middle of Queen Street.

The real star here is obviously that balcony view – I mean, you’re literally looking out over the Brisbane River and the city sprawl from 38 floors up. Morning coffee out there hits different when you can see all the way to the hills. The apartment itself is genuinely spacious, which is refreshing after staying in so many cramped hotel rooms. You know what I appreciated? The kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to grab groceries from the Woolworths downstairs instead of eating out every meal. Speaking of downstairs – you’re right above the Queen Street Mall, so late-night ice cream runs are dangerously easy, but surprisingly the street noise doesn’t really penetrate up there. The building’s solid.

What really sold me on this place was the little details that show someone actually thought about what travelers need. The wifi is properly fast (I worked from there a couple days), there’s decent storage space for longer stays, and the shower pressure is – well, let’s just say it’s better than most places I’ve stayed in Brisbane. The African-inspired décor walks that fine line between interesting and tasteful without feeling like you’re sleeping in a theme park. Only minor gripe is the elevator situation during peak hours – it’s a busy building with lots of residents, so factor in a few extra minutes if you’re trying to get somewhere on a schedule. But honestly, for the price point and that view, it’s hard to complain. If you’re the type who likes having your own space rather than typical hotel amenities, and you want to feel like you’re living in Brisbane rather than just visiting, this spot delivers. Just don’t expect to spend much time indoors once you discover that balcony.
