Acacia Ridge Cottage – Firepit, Kids Cubby, Games
You know what struck me first about Acacia Ridge Cottage?
You know what struck me first about Acacia Ridge Cottage? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet residential street where you can hear kids playing in backyards and the occasional dog barking – proper neighborhood vibes, not tourist central. I mean, Callard Street isn’t exactly where you’d expect to find a gem like this, but honestly, that’s part of what makes it special. You’re staying in a real Brisbane suburb, not some sanitized hotel district.
The cottage itself feels like someone’s favorite aunt decided to rent out her place – and I mean that in the best possible way. The firepit is positioned perfectly in the backyard where you can actually use it without feeling like you’re performing for neighbors, and the kids’ cubby house is this charming little setup that’ll keep the little ones entertained for hours (trust me, mine barely wanted to leave). The games selection inside is surprisingly good too – not just dusty Monopoly and missing-piece puzzles, but actually engaging stuff. What really got me was how thoughtfully everything’s arranged. The kitchen has those little touches that show someone actually cooks there, like proper sharp knives and a decent coffee setup, not just the bare minimum most rentals throw at you.
Parking’s a breeze right out front, which honestly is half the battle in Brisbane these days. The area’s quiet enough that you’ll sleep well, but you’re still only about fifteen minutes from the city center when you want to venture out. There’s a decent Thai place just down on Mortimer Road that locals seem to love, and the Acacia Ridge shops are walkable if you need basics. I’ll be honest, it’s not the flashiest neighborhood – you’re not going to Instagram every street corner – but there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that feels authentic rather than polished for tourists. The hosts clearly know what they’re doing too; check-in was smooth, they left helpful notes about everything from the wifi password to the best pizza delivery, and they’re quick to respond if you need anything. It’s got that perfect balance of feeling like a home away from home while still being special enough that you’re excited to be there.

What Our Guests Say
Fabulous place to stay. The owners of the property are grandly and very helpful. The big secure backyard the dogs could run in.
What could be improved: The shower in the bath. Needs mats and a rail as my friend had difficulty getting a shower.
