Look, I've stayed at my fair share of Brisbane hotels, and 51 CityVibes honestly surprised me in the best way.
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of Brisbane hotels, and 51 CityVibes honestly surprised me in the best way. Walking into the lobby on Margaret Street, you get this immediate sense that someone actually thought about the design here – it’s not trying too hard to be fancy, but there’s this sleek, contemporary vibe that feels authentically Brisbane rather than cookie-cutter corporate. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions, which you know how rare that can be these days.
What really won me over was the attention to detail that you don’t notice until you’re settled in. The room I had faced toward the city (hence the name, I guess), and honestly, watching Brisbane light up in the evening while having a coffee was pretty special. The beds are actually comfortable – I mean, properly comfortable, not just acceptable hotel comfortable. And here’s something I appreciated: the shower pressure was excellent, which sounds trivial until you’ve had a long day exploring the city and just want a proper rinse. The rooms have this modern Australian aesthetic that feels current without being trendy in a way that’ll look dated in five years.
Location-wise, you’re right in the thick of things on Margaret Street, which means you can walk to Queen Street Mall in about ten minutes, or duck down to the riverside pretty easily. I found myself grabbing breakfast at some of the cafés along Edward Street most mornings – there’s this whole strip of local spots that tourists often miss because they’re not flashy, but the coffee’s excellent and you’ll actually sit next to Brisbane locals reading their papers. The hotel’s positioned well for exploring South Bank too, though I’d recommend walking across the Victoria Bridge rather than taking a taxi – the views are worth it, and it’s only about fifteen minutes. One thing to note: Margaret Street can get a bit busy during peak hours, but the windows are decent at blocking out street noise, and honestly, it quiets down pretty well in the evenings. Parking’s available if you’re driving, though like most CBD spots, it’s not cheap – but then again, you probably won’t need your car much once you’re there.
